Brian makes two good points;
- There was a very nice Czech dog that won the SchH Nationals. Would that be the first one ever to win at the top in the US?? I think so!!!
- The Czech dogs are coming closer to being a better more balanced dog.. This is due though to bringing in German blood to thier programs.. Still not a consistant record of producing high quality, high level dogs.... For sure I think some of the Czech breeders are working to improve thier breeding programs.. My hats off to them...
Cheaper is not always better!!

I think there will be at least three dogs at this years Worlds that are Czech that will have won the National title in a country. As long as there are twice as many Czech dogs on the streets doing real work as other shepherd subsets, I wouldn't let opinions get in the way of facts!! As for the money argument, I train with the one of the biggest procurers of policedogs in the state of NJ. Police depts are paying 4500 to 5500 hundred for green dogs that have been tested. You can GET a West/Belgium green dog for that kind of money. STILL, their are more Czech dogs that are procurered than the others. We also recertify these dogs once they are on the street. These dogs are real and many of these Czech dogs are what you need on the streets. As I've always said, there are good dogs in all subsets but facts are facts and the LE community will not agree on opinions expressed here about Czech dogs not being TOP working dogs. But what do they know they only work in the real world they don't know as much about real work requirements as breeders/sport people.JMO

I have to ask you to explain, "Cheaper is not always better!"
To be honest, I have found that a lot of the top Cz lines are a bit pricier than West and Belg. lines. Brian's dog has a 1/2 brother named Tango Ben-ju. He was in the BSP two years in a row. Not too shabby for a Cz dog to be in the German national Championship. I don't know how much Brian paid for his bitch, but that kennel is charging $1800 plus shipping for a pup today. Sure you can find a bargain here and there, but you'll find that with anything. I can go out and find top SZ working lines all day for around a grand. The price never reflects quality!
As to the fact that some on here don't believe that DDr or Cz dogs are well represented in major trials, that is rediculous. I do believe that Debbie Zappia and Wallace payne both came in second place at the WUSV with dogs that contain DDR dogs in their pedigrees. T. Floyd has had some success with CZ dogs. I do believe that the Greg Mominee with Alk and Mike Diehl/Brawnson won quite a few WPO championships with DDR/CZ dogs. There are countless others that have had success and it is pointless to go on. The majority of dogs on the field are SZ bloodlines. That is a fact. Many people do not like that in a lot of CZ and DDR pedigrees, you don't know where they came from. Most of the time you can only go back so far.
A good dog is a good dog. I, myself, prefer CZ lines witha bit of DDR, but I wouldn't pass up on a great SZ dog.
