Ryan, I saw Alex's dog Vando on two occasions.  His pigment was better than the photo you reference.  The dog was very nice and had excellent sidegait, great proportions and angles, and had very correct temperament.  He was one of the strongest most robust male GSDs I have ever seen, a real powerhous. He was hard as nails and yet friendly and sound. He produced some very nice puppies, but one had to watch for the problems that can come through Natz, wide coming at you and an occasional tendency for torsion. A friend of mine used him and had one puppy that developed torsion from  his bitch that never produced any in several litters before. The temperament of the puppies was like his. Overall if bred properly, Vando was a good producer.

Preston, I agree. that is a terrible photo. Vando in real life looked much better. Was using it as an example for brittany. Photos not only incorrectly capture pigmentation but of course are a one dimensional capture of a dog. You know Alex? Best trainer I have ever been around. Introduced me to ringsport. I have not abandoned ScH but find ringsport far more challenging and a great additonal dicipline. I have 3 dogs, one A Lintuchu dog. He is great at ringsport and has reflexes as good as any  of  my working lines dogs of past. As you know Alex took on breeding Presa's. Vando was the sherrif of the kennel and would keep the Presas in line. Not an easy task. My dogs would work with Vando and Cona, his best Presa. Both went with him to the Ukraine. The kennel is still owned and operated by his wife who is incredibly skilled at training.

I am a big fan of Natz though have never owned a dog from his lines.. I have heard of similar problems. I am not a fan of the side gait but Vandos angulation and proportions were in harmony. A tendancy toward torsion with a bitch with no prior probs would strem from Natz  most likely. Its why I no longer breed. It is a full time voacation with a learning curve that results in mistakes.

Thanks in arrears Live 4...great tool.
