DKiah, I love my Dyson animal vac, but it's not put to the same level of stress as your vacuums are. I have one dog these days LOL.

Blitzen:

ROTFLMAO!  Hope all is well with you!  I affectionately refer to my two as German Shedders as well!  I love my furminator brush.  I went from using 4 different brushes down to 1 when I purchased the furminator a few years back!  My Dyson animal gets quite the workout too.  That'd be great idea if some vaccum companies took DKiah up on her offer to provide test data.

I used to add a bunch of stuff to their food in hopes of curtailing the shedding.  No such luck.  They blow their coats twice per year and just pretty much shed contstantly in between.  At this point, I'm just thrilled that my female even has ANY fur with her allergies (LOL).  I'll brush her until my hand gets tired now that I actually have something to brush :)

Hi Crazee,

We are on the same page with the shedding. I have no clue how to slow it down either. I never imagined a GSD could shed more than an Alaskan Malamute given they only have half as much coat to begin with LOL.

How is your allergic dog doing?

Hello, Blitzen!

I didn't realize any other dog could shed more than a GSD.  LOL!  I saw a GSD once at PetsMart right before I acquired my girl who had been shaved down!  I had to ask the cashier what kind of dog it was - I didn't even recognize it as a GSD aside from the ears.  It was sad.

My girl is doing pretty good right now with her allergies (knock on wood).  She's just started her regular "maintenance" dose and she's not itching as much and I'm able to go about every 2 weeks now without giving her the medicated bath (whew).   Once she blew her coat - she started to look much better.  I was wondering there for a while.  We go back to the dermatologist in June for a follow up.

 How's your boy doing????

Blitzen, I've had a Dyson Animal for several years now or however long they have been available....it is the best one so far! but I don't expect it to last a whole lot longer.

Those tests are conducted under what is considered "normal wear and tear".... although this is normal for us, I am certain no vacuum cleaner company has us in mind when they are testing a product! I'd be happy to be a test case.. imagine the money I'd save on vacuums.. LOL!! I'd be able to get another dog!! Just kidding!! I'm not that crazy!

Crazee, Blitz is doing fine, thanks. Compared to my first GSD that was at the vet every other week, he's been a dream. Never sick enough to need any vet care yet and he's 5 1/2 now. Even has good  hips and rarely scratches.........is he really a GSD?  Oh, yeah, that's right, he sheds 24/7 so he must be LOL.

DKiah, I love my Dyson too, even with just one dog.  The first time I used it I was wondering what all that stuff was I saw in the cannister. I noticed they sell replacement parts LOL. 7 dogs aren't too many, at one time I had around 15, but they were mostly kennel dogs.

I have 7 too....and I use a shop vac.  I have hardwood floors so I can do this.  I don't even own a regular vac.  I even dust with it. lol.

I do bathe once a month and use a professional hair dryer on them and use show sheen...which is for horses, and it is a conditioner, and brush them every day to every other day and that helps with the hair, but it is bad.

As soon as I can I am switching to wood floors. Even then I don't think I could live with more than one inside at a time. I like my house clean. Besides my dogs really don't mind being outside, there is more to look at.
