Schutzhund No, work no, pet yes. But......Someone above said every line of GS has its purpose. This is not correct. The dog was conceived to be a working dog not a plush, show gating animal. Show people will never understand the need for working dogs as working people will never understand the need for a show dog who doesn't have the ability to do the work it was intended to do..

Well there you go!! I thought I was too old to learn something new, but I had no idea Sheep herding (origianal purpose) was now classed as sport. I stand corrected, lol.

A piece of paper means nothing. There are a lot of fine German showline dogs in the pedigree, but that says nothing about what the litter or the individual pups will be like. Based on the hip history, it is likely that the pups will have better than average chances of having good hips. Can some do some sort of sport like Schutzhund.....perhaps. That is in part dependent on access to good clubs and helpers and an owner knowing how to train. It is pure BS to assume that just because the litter is out of showlines that these pups won't be capable of doing a lot of things. Most importantly, hopefully all will get loving, forever homes where they are properly socialized and given strong obedience training. If some are shown or trained for something, all the better.

Nick,
of course you always have to look at the parents directly when considering a breeding but if I lived in Canada and was in the market for a nice showline puppy, I would consider one of Phil's litters in a heartbeat. In my opinion, he is  the most successful Canadian breeder (besides Traci Bullinger, of course) and he has competed  successfully on the international level. I had the opportunity to watch Xbox last October at NASS and really liked him a lot. I am sure that the half brother has equal or similar genetic potential.
In addition, the linebreeding on Esko Daenischen Hof is a great bonus in my opinion, the 4th generation is not too close but considered very effective. I would do that linebreeding in a heartbeat if I had a chance. The only thing possibly to look for is pronounced black markings but what I have seen so far in the Dei Precision dogs has no shortcomings in that area!
Plus, both parents are SchH3 titled, and no matter what others say, at least they are titled!  Most breeders here in the U.S. and in Canada, do not bother to title their dogs or go through the expense to do so.
Good luck with your new prospect!
