I think I would rather have a dog that can do the ring three well. Tracking is the least of my worries.

There are plenty of them in France. I have posted several videos of GSD's doing ringsport.

Well Mr. catman, if you are REALLY interested I suggest you come on down to Seguin, Texas February 19 and 20 and you can check out a number of FR and MR dogs, both titled and in training for titles being worked by Jimmy Vanhove, one of the top decoys in France. If you really want to get crazy, bring your dog with and see if he has what it takes. That invitation stands for anyone who would like to learn more about the Ringsports in an up close and personal way vs chatter on the internet.

What's the big deal with the gunfire in Ring?  A dog with good nerves and a strong temperament should have no problems with gunfire from the decoy.  Perhaps, I'm missing something but gunfire really isn't that big a deal when the dog is introduced to it properly.

Wow, steph. You have that much space available? Open to all?

i fired five 9mm rounds yesterday 10 feet from my nine week old pups while eating  and only 1 even looked up. had 2 in house this morning and my wife would push the vac right up to them and pull away. the pups chased the vac cleaner. solid as a rock!!!

If gun fire tests aren't a big deal why were they removed from Schutzhund? I don't disagree with you about it not being a big thing for good dogs.

We have a lot of space. Plenty for you to come down and work your dog. Jimmy is a great guy, and is really really good at teaching decoy work very correctly. The money goes to Jimmy, not anyone else. In these economic times there are not going to be a lot of people showing up for someone that is not really well known.

Jimmy is young, and has probably worked more dogs than a lot of us have at much higher levels. To have him here is going to be a lot of fun. We will build big fires and throw meat on them cave man style. Of course if you want to grill, then fine, be that way. The idea is to have some fun, and let people learn from someone that is very skilled at what he does.

Besides, you could come and argue dogs with me, and that is always a lot better than having to type and hope it comes across right. : )
