Mink is one of the pillar of the modern working German Shepherds. I love natural aggression, and fighting drive coming from this line. Mink passed on his qualities to Jago, Jalk, Iko, Arko, Lewis, Crok, a few prominent ones among many other good ones. You have to combine this line with others to bring in better looks, more firmness in body, and more desire to work with the handlers. Some breeders have linebred quite successfully on Mink lines but you have to know your dogs to do it. We, the working german shepherd people, will talk for Mink line for years to come.

I have a pup I believe 4-3 on Mink and you are not going to run this dog off the field. Full grips fight drive is high. He is very agile can jump like a deer and fast. So I believe his conformation is functional. Maybe he is not pretty but I really do not get into that aspect.

Since we bought two dogs from the Mink bloodline, we will never have GSD`s from a different bloodline. On 2nd of March 2007 our Vinni Osterburg Quell has born after Magnus Heidgrund 8/2 puppies linebreeding 4-4 Mink Haus Wittfeld and 4-4 Xando Karthago. We hope that the puppies will get the full hard grips and the drives from Mink and can be as easy handled as Xando.
I will tell you more in a year or two...

Nice looking working dogs. I personnaly like working lines best.
I have this thing about never telling anybody they have an ugly dog. If I don't like a dog, I say nothing. People should think twice before making comments about this line or that line being ugly. You never know who you just insulted.

LOL true animules.
It's so great to know the dogs I prefer are considered junk by the showline lovers. I'm sorry if I would take Mink over Ursus anyday!

4pack, I have to agree and it made me wonder so I looked. Four out of five of ours go back to Mink. No wonder I like them. :) ;)

I have to agree with most that REALLY do know these lines...these lines rock. My puppy has a couple of these lines in her and she has more drive at 12 weeks old than my showline dog ever even thought of. As far as looks go I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. German Shepherds weren't bred to be on the cover of Cosmo.
EKvonEarnhardt; I also have a Klatolklin dog but from Axle vom Rolling Acres and Norma Stara Basta...awe inspiring drives.

i agree with Ajay. He knows what he is doing. Ive seen a few dogs out of his breeding that contain Mink and they are fabulous. You have to balance it out.
Too much Mink is a fur coat!
