Here is my opinion and it is strictly my opinion. If I buy a puppy and said puppy is defective, I should be given another puppy of my choosing especially if my first puppy was a pick of the litter and not be forced to take the runt of the litter/last pick who then turns out to also have HD. At this point - no I do not want another last pick/runt puppy nor for that matter do I want any puppy. I prefer a 50% refund of my purchase price. I would not ask for the vet fees nor should the breeder have to pay them.

What makes me say this, hmmm, because it happened to me. So, 2 dogs from the same breeder having HD is not so far fetched as some might think. True story.

On a side note - Speaking of true stories (not about this situation) the truth always comes out and when it does and the scale tips the other way and you are on the edge and you fall, well shit happens.

Regards,

Mick

Recently, I have seen breeders write in their contracts that purchasers cannot go onto the internet without contacting the breeder to resolve any issues FIRST, at first I thought that was stupid, until I came across good breeders having their names smeared on the internet without the full story being told. I think breeders need/should write this in their contracts, now if the issue isn't resolved say withing two-six months (when a breeder may have a next litter of puppies on the ground), I could see at that time the purchaser going onto the internet to let other people know.
