we got a 3 mo female and trained her at home and classes. we then had her inboard trained for 5 weeks while we found a home for another female (aggression issues between the 2). when our (kept) girl was about 6 months old we got a 2 mo male gsd. i started training w/breeder immed w/just him. we try to do individual training sessions because he is very bonded to her and vice versa and they "flirt" if they have classes together. my male (now 9 1/2 mo and 82 lbs) is excellent when trained w/other dogs or alone, but gives me a few probs when he's w/our girl. i'm just glad our girl had such a headstart on him. our dogs are not related at all.

I was thinking the same thing. I am going to breed my female, and want to keep a pup. So I was going to keep the pick male and female until they wer six months to see which I like the best, but I'm not sure if I should do it because they may bond too tightly. Not to mention I would have to sell one latter on and it may break them.

If you have an excess of free time then I woudnt see a problem with it other than the bond not being as strong as it could be. That bond, or lack of, I would imagine will reflect during training. In November I got my first 9 week old pup. I was going to get another and let my girlfriend raise and train but things went sour between she and I. There is no way in hell I couldve given both of them what they needed. I simply dont have the time or energy. Maybe if they wouldve been my only 2 dogs it wouldve been a little more feasable. Im going to wait about a year as I believe GSDfan stated that she did.

all the comments here are very good .. and all have good merit .. but if you ask for advice .. and pardon mefor being frank .. as i often state i am a straight shooter _ IF YOU EVEN HAVE TO THINK of ASKING THAT QUESTION TO OTHERS OR TO YOURSELF --- then , ONE DOG AT A TIME FOR YOU [ at least a year or more so apart for more than one dog] !! -- you are not knowledgable enough and/or not experienced enough . get comfortable and knowlegdableabout GSDs and canines - then perhpas in the future more than one at a time for you !

i have to agree with alphapup, i have raised a few pups single, and am now in the process of raising littermates(started out as one mine, one the wifes) if you are raising them for sprot(ie schutzhund) plan on a lot of time! (have you ever laid two tracks, then worked two dogs in obiedence, then two sessions of bite work?) keeping them seperate is a must, or as others have stated they will become dependent on each other. IMO, if you do not have the room to keep them separate, then dont do it. john
