hntrjmper434, the OP did say the reason for wanting a GSD is that's the breed of dog they prefer...

...that said, I'd bet there are a bunch of nice, healthy and even well-bred GSDs in shelters all across the US, that would be PERFECTLY suited for this Brazilian farm-watching job, if there aren't any in Brazil!

Truth be told, I don't know anything about the shelter situation there at all. There may not even be any such facility--it wouldn't surprise me if there weren't any in North Korea, for example... If there are such shelters in Brazil, and there are German Shepherds in Brazil, then undoubtedly there have got to be at least some GSD-mixes that can pass for full GSDs with half-mast ears. Couldn't hurt to look.

Hexe and hntrjmpr434,

The main goal im buying a GSD is for companion, loyal dog and as a new family member. I love GSD personality, and I will live at least 10 years with the dog. So why not increase my bets to have the best I can get? Maybe My first question was confused, but guard dog is not my first target ; )

ricardosouza, I'm sorry if it seemed I misunderstood...it's just that here in the US, there are SOOO many really nice GSDs that get dumped into animal shelters by their owners for reasons that are NOT the dog's fault, GOOD dogs that are literally dying for someone to take them home so they can be that person's companion, loyal dog and new family member, but there aren't enough people doing that and so every day more of these perfectly good dogs are killed because the shelter needs to make more room for the next group of dogs people are throwing away.

It's just sad, that's all...and yet I do understand wanting a puppy because instead of needing to fix the mistakes somebody else made with a rescued dog, you get a blank slate on which you can write your own script. And I'm not immune to that desire as well, so I do hope you find the dog that's right for you, wherever he or she is from.

But promise me that you will not give even a second's worth of consideration to getting a pup or dog from Griffin Shepherd Kennels and Augusto Deoliveira, who is located in Hanson, Massachusetts, USA.

I would ad:
Von Rubin in NY ( great dogs here )
Vom Kuda Haus in Indiana ( very knowledgeable breeder, she places many of her dog in LE ). In fact I think she is looking to rehome a very Large Blk 4 yr old male.
Vom Moresot ( Texas El Paso )
NorrisNK9 ( Alabama )

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/breeders.html

you can do a search for breeders in Brazil. click "breeders" button on left side of page. also many GSD in Argentina. I did the search but not sure this link will take you to it. the only other advice I have is make every effort to see the dog before you buy.
