sueincc - to my eyes, yes. But I am not a pro! Thanks for all the replies. Very interesting. Still no idea "why" though the showlines get it though. What is it that is causing it.....

My girl's "bitch stripe" appeared a few months before her first heat. I think it is gorgeous! A bright silver accentuating her black saddle.

Hormonal influence is probably the cause of the sex bias but no doubt it's under genetic control, partially at least and more prevelant in the showlines as a consequence of selection for lighter colours.

HAHAHA! I'm such an idiot! I thought it was there because I over brushed her and thinned her hair too much with the shedding blade in the spring and fall!

Who ever said ignorance is bliss didn't know what he was talking about.  Cause I'm ignorant and it ain't no walk in the park!

guys think about it.. the stripes are similar to SABLE ... the original colour of the GSD is neither Black nor Blk and TAN // It was SABLE GRAY... A remnant pigmentation perhaps // gives the needed SECONDARY Characteristics ...
