Joanro I would not vote for such an idea. If there is such a problem, GSD will take care of it.

Is proof needed of ownership? Otherwise, nothing will be gained by locking if all it takes is request to be put in charge of any pedigrees.

Thank you Duke1965. :)

Hans, I can assist.you. Please send me a PM.

Western Rider, can I give you a quick tutorial in how to make live links?   Regular Smile

Highlight the link and copy it.

Look for the icon that resembles a single link in a chain. On my screen, it's in the third row, at the end, in the same box as a flag. Click on that icon, then paste the link in the window that opens and press 'ok'.

Voila!

The link will now show up in blue type, meaning it is now clickable.

Hans,

At this point the system that I envision has not been built (programmed) so we are dealing with hypothetical questions. If you would like to edit a dog that is locked out to you send Blue Frost a PM with a link to the dog and she will take care of you.

I do see a system that allows members to click a link if they want to edit a dog. I see us getting a notice that Hans wants to edit dog X and will approve it.

I can also see a system that allows multiple members to be editors of a dog.

I can see that certain members will be allowed to have edit rights for certain breeds and I do see that some members may get edit rights to all pedigrees.

Can you be an editor of say all GSDs? I haven't crossed that bridge yet as there is no system in place to allow it, it may never happen because I am not the programmer. All I can go off is what Oli tells me. When will this system be put into place? I have no clue.

Beta = http://beta.pedigreedatabase.com/  this will eventually be pedigreedatabase.com

Joan,

Will breed and global (meaning all pedigrees) editors be known - sure why not. But let me assure you of one thing and that is if a breed or global editor messes with another members pedigree maliciously they will immediately be taken off as an editor.

Some people are going to like this, some will hate it and most won't give it 2 thoughts. I do think the overall integrity of the pedigrees will be improved with a limited amount of people who can edit a pedigree.

Sounds like a good plan, thank you, gsdadmin.

Admin switched my GSD's and Malamutes to me so I've been able to correct some spelling issues and add a little more information to some of them. Thanks!!
