From Ulf Kintzel's website. remember this is tending, the GSD's forte, not herding per se. When Ulf holds his trials he uses 200+ sheep.

Q: What breed of dog works for tending?
A: I am a German Shepherd Dog person and clearly prefer GSDs. However, I have also worked with Briards and Beaucerons, Belgian Sheepdogs, Tervuren and Malinois. Other common herding breeds like Border Collies etc. do not suit this style of herding.

Q: If I have a GSD what line does my dog need to come from?
A: The dog will be tested as an individual and will be evaluated according to its abilities and potential, not according to its blood line or country of origin.

I agree that what the OP posted is fantastic and that the dogs in it are doing a job they were trainied for. Although its really sad bubbabooboo that you only learned a limitted, narrow vision of what all IPO entails, drives needed and what inhernit traits the dog needs. I really thought that with all the time you invested in the sport (IPO & Ring) you would .
