SS, if you're going to use Safeguard (as I would for giardia) you HAVE to pay attention to dosage. The canine suspension is 22.2%. The livestock stuff is typically 10%. So....you need to do some figuring. I have not found it much cheaper for adults (pups, yes) to treat with livestock suspensions.
I have heard really good things about Kocci Free for BOTH coccidia and giardia.
I use Toltrazuril for coccidia; however, if they already have bad diarrhea, I would use Kocci-free after the Toltrazuril because Toltrazuril is a better preventive than it is a symptom treatment. Kocci-free is supposed to regulate them and have them feeling better in no time flat, according to those I know who have used it.

I actually take a trip south of the border every year to get a bunch of bottles of liquid suspension metronidazole. i get about 15 for my vet and 1 or 2 for myself. Usually runs abour $10 to $12 a bottle.
For some strange reason you can not usually but the liquid here in the states. And the Dr, i buy it from down there is just a human pratice. Check and see if you have any friend taking a cruise to the caribbean.
