Shelley Strohl

So... what do they do at the 100,000 sq. ft. facility I wonder? Do the pups ever see the place? Is it a wash/dry/vet check and gone kind of place? or is it strictly for administration? Does anybody in administration ever SEE any of the "products?" How depressing... Just as shocking, IMO, is the prices of the "PP" dogs being advertised on this site. :-O where does this guy FIND people willing to spend all that money on a plain old personal protection dog? Sure, the dogs look healthy, but there isn't much info about the individual dogs on the "Dogs Available" page. How many dogs at those prices does the guy actually SELL every year? Where do all those dogs live, and what do they do, and what human companionship do they enjoy while they wait for someone to write out those $7500-35,000 checks??? Again, I must have been under my rock too long. Sure, a dog is "worth" whatever someone is willing to pay for it, and I have seen some astronomical prices paid for dogs I wouldn't have paid a fraction of the final sale prices for, and the new owners delighted then and in future. I have also seen people turn down small fortunes offered for their dogs (like $550K for a V-A dog...) which I might not have done so quickly in their place (depending on the person and the home offered with the cash). But I just don't see how anyone can sell many dogs with no titles, no particularly impressive bloodlines, etc. for that kind of money. Shelley -who JDGI (Just Doesn't Get It!)

That's lot Blitzen. Where did you see those figures? I noticed on his website he had a link to show people how to register their pups, does that number include ones he buys and sells ?

I have seen local pet stores ad on local radio and tv that they want to buy any registered purebreed pups; just bring them down and they will buy them for resale.

by Blitzen on 28 February 2007 - 18:02

I'll try to find those figures, it was on the net somewhere, so might not be 100% accurate. Yes, it would include the dogs he brokers, not just ones he has bred himself.

If you google Andrew Hunte or Hunte Corporation you will find plenty of interesting reading. It doesn't look like anyone knows for sure how many puppies pass through his facility in any given year. Not all are sold here in the US, some go elsewhere and might not be AKC registered first or registered with another orgainzation. Given there are so many different breeds involved and his facility is only used as break bulk shipping terminal, we will probably never have the true number.

Do the pups actually pass through the facility? Is it kind of a "spin dry" plant? SS

Shelley, From what I can tell based on the following presentation and the Hunte Corporation web site, the puppies do come to the facility, get cleaned up, vet checked, microchipped, and shipped on to the stores. This is his complete presentation to the GSDCA. http://www.andrewhunte.com/ -Tina

you guys are all to funny. reading all this and working there is so funny to me because you guys have no clue. you want to know what really happens behind closed doors? i cant go into to much detail cause i dont want to have to fight it in court if you know what i mean. here is how it starts out. there is drivers that go to the different breeders and come back with the pups where they go through an exam and the note everything about every dog and only pay for the ones that meet standards (akc, ukc, apr, and so on) the ones he doesnt buy goes back to the breeder. you can also bring the dogs yourself. the youngest dog there would be 8 weeks and oldest 13 weeks. most dogs stay about 3-4 days max. the ones that leave go to any pet store as in petland, family pets, and so on. if the dog developes a uri (snot/cough) they are seperated out and moved to another wing of the building where it is giving antibiotics until it is clear. 99% of the time no more than a week or so. everydog there gets a bath if not more and groomed, nails clipped, ears cleaned. and the sq. ft. part well most of that is truck bay/offices and there is another part where they make kennels. there is also a pet store. so accually the dog holding part makes up little of the total sq.ft.. as for puppy mill 100% wrong. no breeding goes on there.im not saying all this because i hope hunte reads this and gives me a high five im just telling the facts. and i know that there is always going to those people that wont believe what they read or is told but maybe this will change some minds.

"puppy mill 100% wrong"

Okay we'll term it the Walmart distribution center for dogs!!! lol

Screw Hunte. I'm glad he wasn't able to infiltrate any GSD organizations.

The public needs to be educated on what Hunte and his type actually do for the pet overpopulation problem.

OK so they aren't a puppy mill but they keep the puppy mills in business. Truckloads of puppies, sounds terrificly terrifying. As I ponder how many stops they make,"at other puppy mills" before those pups get food or water. I can't even fathom how dogs can be so lucrative.

Finance a rig off proceeds from my dogs? Yeah right, better luck having Nutra Nuggets paint my SUV like a rolling billboard to make my payment for 5 years. Gappay window decals anyone? Truck shaped like a dog bisquit? Oh come on, you know you have thought about it! All I know is my dogs keep me broke as hell and I could be taking a sweet vacation every year if it were not for them and their need for the best foods, equipment and training. Not to mention the rear of my beautiful, overly priced SUV, is littered with dog hair and stench ooh la wet pooch.
