Here in FL (as in PA) the term "gyp" is still used and dogs are "dressed" so they can't reproduce.

vk says a lot of things that remind me of the past.

Just my humble opinion:
I honestly did not see any dominance or submissive issue in the video. To me, the dog standing was waiting for the other dog to finish to get in for left overs. It was a short video, so something could be missing.
It looks like a pack scenario where positions in the pack have already been established. The laying dog is slightly higher in the dog pack than the standing dog; thus the standing dog was allowing the other to finish before moving in. If the standing dog was truely pushing for the food, I would expect more confortation.

Can,t conclude anything of that one clip, looks like a well established pack to me though so have to take VK's word for it. Seems like both dogs had their fill, wood possibly be another case if they were starving.
In VK's opinion defending food is a sign of insecurity, so wolf packleaders are insecure when they execute their right to eat first?
I respect your opinion, just like to know how did you came to that conclusion.

I don't know many dogs packs consisting of mixed sexes where the male/s ever earn the alpha spot over a healthy female. As is should be in the human world as well.

I thought the gsd was basically in avoidance, looking elsewhere hoping the black do will go away. Insecure and uncomfortable at the very least.

A male dog that respects an alpha female as this dog is doing is not an insecure dog. It's a smart dog that is hoping she doesn't decide she wants that bone. If so, he'll let her have it.
