That would be the best possible scenario, Kalibeck. Certainly a more comfortable thought that someone here doing it and then getting cold feet.
I doubt anyone here considers Shelley a puppy mill.

First, "Seriously" I don't call 4 litters in 6 yrs. a puppy mill.
The puppy disappeared from his own, seperate kennel. He "reappeared" in with two others pups, 2 weeks younger than himself, in a different kennel. I only have 6 kennels, three containing adults. Inventory is not difficult, especially when the one puppy is so much larger and more developed at 3.5 months than the two he was found in with this a.m.
Also, one of the latches on the outside door is fastened well up over my head, with a spring closure on the door itself which I make sure is securely fastened when I leave, partly for security and partly to prevent heat from escaping. No dog could open it himself, even if he were to get his own kennel door open... he would have been confined to the building, doubtless running up and down teasing the others, who would have barked their heads off all night long, which they didn't.
I was terrified. No one who lives here or knows me slept at all last night, worrying that the precious boy was out in the extreme cold all night without shelter. I, too, suspect one of the neighbor kids "borrowed" him, then freaked out when they realized that that puppy actually belongs to our helper, who lives on/is buying the property. From now on NO ONE goes in that building without one of us, and darned few with us.
I am in the process of constructing a new building on our other property, just across the street and high up on a hill up a private road, not easily accessible without our knowing it, not visible from the street, and clearly in sight from most of the windows of our house. It, too, will be locked up tight when I am out and at night.
The puppies are moving back downstairs in our basement today. I just wish the temps would rise and the ice would melt so I could put them in their exercise runs all day again instead of having to run them all with T several times a day.
My dogs are my FAMILY. I love each and every one like I would my children, if I had any children. I know a lot of people who would be delighted to come back in their next life as one of my dogs. I deeply resent anyone suggesting that I run some kind of a mass production opertion. Quite frankly, it hurts my poor little feelings :(
My sincere thinks to everyone who responded to my posts.

What a nasty comment seriously, so not necessary..
Shelley, I'm elated for you--that would be my worst nightmare and you were in my prayers..

So happy to hear he's home. I can't even imagine how horrible it must have been for you. Too bad there are people out there like Seriously who jump on a computer and share that THEY are an idiot.
by seriously on 19 February 2007 - 21:02
So she discovered the puppy missing early Sunday morning, ran to get on the computer and share he'd been STOLEN, and then the next day she looks in the whole 6, yes count em' 6 kennels, and finds the kennel she had him in didn't hold him, and now we're all supposed to rush to her and congratulate her on her crowning achievement?
Yeah, yer right. My bad. She isn't as irresponsible as I made it out to be.
by seriously on 19 February 2007 - 21:02
Hey! Someone just STOLE my dog while I was on here!!
by seriously on 19 February 2007 - 21:02
Nevermind, I just found him. WHEW!
That was a close one!
