Q Man

by Q Man on 24 October 2014 - 18:10

Lookie Heeere....I'm from Florida and a GATOR is a GATOR...Most dogs aren't a bit safe around a GATOR...Actually mine were smart enough to stay away from them...And the deer just stayed there while my dogs were out...My dogs didn't bother them...However my neighbor's chickens weren't very safe when they wandered onto my property looking for food...

...tee hee hee...!

LOL, that clicking sound.   I too use that with my dogs sometime.  I thought it was just an odd habit I had.  Never related it back to my horse days...but now that you mention it.

Nice set Joanro

Lol, q-man, Fl 'gators do love dogs. When I still lived there, I had to keep my smooth fox terriers out of the pond in the center of the exercise track (for race horses) while I took them with me, riding my horses on the track for exercise. Running through the woods, with canals everywhere, during the gator mating season, we could here the males grunting calling in females....now that's a time when I put leashes on my dogs to keep them close.
A fox terrier would be a snack for those big guys.

I think your dogs live in a canine paradise. Otto looks like a very obedient dog. The clicking" reminded me of Gena Davis in Accidental Tourist, She was a dog trainer that clucked at her dogs to train them; she sounded like the clicker that so many now use.

Here I have to either walk Bev on the golf course on lead letting her loose only to chase a ball or run her next to the golf cart stll on lead. It's not that she would run off, but we have a leash law in the complex where we live. Gators here are pretty docille but they do pay attention to the dog when we walk by them. The first time I heard the grunting at mating time I thought it was a bullfrog LOL. I'm more concerned about cottonmouths.

cool vids, nice place.

i could not help but notice the type of mesh fence you have. totally hate it when horses are involved, very, very dangerous.

not sure if you can get this or the equivalent in the states, if not you should become an importer.

slowly repalcing my existing fence with this stuff, a bit more expensive perhaps but an excellent product.

Oh, the field fence is OK for older horses. Would not put young ones behind it that don't respect fences. Plus hot wire on top keeps the horses away from it so they aren't sticking feet through or bending it putting heads over.
Thanks.

The equimesh looks good, and we definitely need to keep those pesky roos out.lol That fence reminds me of "Rabbit Proof Fence".

This is Otis, littermate of Otto.  He went for a jog yesterday and we encountered a flock of turkeys half way through the trip.

Nice vids!  Actually, when I first saw 'Gator' I thought it was the name of a dog! LOL!

I bet he was a little shark as a puppy to get a moniker like that... :D
