Check out Victor dog foods. They have a grain free line. I switched over to the Ultra pro and am very happy. Its $41 a bag for 30 lbs if you find a feed store that carries it. You can't buy this at local pet stores, unfortunately.

Great, if YR can find it, I can. I have already ordered a small bag of the NutiSource to see if it adds some weight on Max without causing the runs. If it does not work, I will definity try the other.

I feed Victor too. There are several different fomulas available so you can selected the one you feel is best for Max. Most are listed on the Dog Food Advisor site. When you switch his food, do it slowly and he may not get loose stools. Sometimes over feeding will also cause loose stool. My GSD has one of those cast iron stomachs, she can and will eat anything the doesn't move, but even she will get loose stools if she over eats and if I switch her food too quickly.

VICTOR SELECT BEEF MEAL
& BROWN RICE
This is the one I use but I think I will ask my feed store owner if he can get us the one u use as my sons female has the skin allergies...We mix the Natures Recipe no grain no soy no preservatives with it for her...It would be easier to buy it from same place
OOPS , I just read the % of protein in the No grain and it is too high...MY gsd are all over 9 yrs old and that protein is way to high for a dog who does nothing but grace my presence and does not work or do a lot of exercise.
GOOD choice of food. I may have to put Mr High and Mighty on it in a year...HE will need all the protein he can find..

Lol.... So new puppy has a name change? Mr High and Mighty?
by Blitzen on 02 October 2014 - 14:10
The % of protein may not be the same as the "usable" protein. Read the review on each of the Victor foods on the Dog Food Advisor.
