Harley: You have figured the selling part just right...it is important to study all u can about German shepherds and how puppies need to be treated from two weeks forward and u have to imprint each pup yourself, first, then u have to learn what pup goes to what person, help them by listening to them on the phone and when they come, spent 30 minutes talking to them...feel them out....are the sincere or looking for a fast fix because their dad had one, or they heard their good dogs.....their not dogs...they are a breed of their own and much care to get rigth pup to right home......u have to know ur bloodline and father bloodline and it takes years of watching trials, films and talking on this site....I never had this site,,,,Ive done it tru trial & error, and the smart brains of Schutzhund people and the breeders and trainers I have been blessed to have behind me and a vet that was the greatest........It has been a nightmare one day and a heaven sent blessing the next....not a greater pleasure in this world than to see those pups grow up to be what u expected......and have a client list bulging with compliments and koodoos.....good luck and take lots of pics......

I totally go with my gut, if I can't get references. If you have a feeling something isn't right about someone, then your gut is right, and just tell them that someone else is interested or you decided not to sell the pup to them, or at all.

As Long As Breeding is for the betterment of the GSD everything else is second

of course breeding for the betterment is first. that wasn't the question.

by Haus Simpkins on 13 February 2007 - 02:02

To Answer The Original Question there is only normally and i repeat normally 3-5 days a bitch will take a breeding 11-14th is almost bookwork. As far as sending or leaving your loved one i urge you to verbally speak with and go with your gut instinct ask for pictures were the dog might be staying and or travel to meet them and see there facility in person . i have shipped my dogs to europe and back just on a couple of phone conversations and a generic e-mail contract stating responsibility. Basically just Go With Your Gut and as much research to back it. Let me Reiterate. Breeding Absolutley takes money and money is only denominal. if you love the breed and are breeding for the betterment or to maintain high structure and quality thats when you know too breed. unless you are a commercial breeder you will not MAKE MONEY but i feel if you are breeding high quality animals and giving the public a chance of obtaining such a great companion at the same time as educating them on the breed that is reward enough. Obviously what we write here are in our opinions nothing in stone here. and remember opinions are like a#*Holes every one has one and they all stink So Keep Your Chin UP and Good Luck Haus Simpkins

Hey I like that Haus Simpkins....as u read my first statement to him and I think he already knows that but as u say I cover all the bases because I dont know who Im talking to, and they may or may not be knowledgeable, and I dont leave stones unturned.....I like to tell all, so they have a tidbit of what I have learned......and this site is too short.....but great words here from great people and all has been well the last week or so hope it continues that way......

yellow rose people don't Seem To Realize That These post are to help people, aquire some knowledge and express feelings. they are 90% matter of opinion. we all need to work together show people and working people to breed and educate people to the beeterment of the breed. For Example if someone wants to purchase my puppy i have the read up on the GSD History evreybody skips that and goes right to looking for the largest dog Darkest, face but right off the back they are not looking to purchase the dog for the intention they think they are. Here in long island especially most everything is treated more or less like a novelty. so i educate the people to the dog the breed the difference between most show and working and see what they are looking for. The Way i Find the best homes for our dogs is to drill people if someone is asking a lot of questions this is usually a great sign they want to be educated and molded. if the person comes in and looks at the pup and says i love i want it no questions the red flag spawns. these are the people that are more impulsive they did a little research and think they know what they want. but in 6 months thats when the phone calls begin. Why is this dog Running my life? I cant sleep on my own bed!!! i cant walk by when hes eating you gotta take the dog back. I Refuse to sell to a person without eductaing them a little on pack behaviour and a lot on GSD behaviour. I dont want my dogs with my Kennel Names Going To Shelters period. Well AAny one it has been nice seeing some real good calm no slandering abusive post lately so lets keep it up Haus Simpkins
