Hello EchoMeadows, Not haven't been breeding TOO long, but in 6-7 years, here's what I do, that works for me; 1. Pups aren't weaned FULLY until 6 weeks of age. After 5 weeks, they feed once or twice each for the next week, and then its cut off time. 2. Pups NEVER go home until they are AT LEAST 9 weeks. Puppies go through a "development time" or the "fear period" and I like to keep them with me until they pass it. 3. For weaning, I mix in a little dry dog milk with their wet puppy chow. I also throw it in a blender, making it a puree and I start doing that when they are 4.5 weeks old, BUT the dam is STILL nursing until 6 weeks, but because the pups are larger, the dam doesn't produce enough milk for 10+ hungry puppies, weighing at least 5 lbs, so I HIGHLY suggest starting the puree mixture. Let me know if I can help, and I will do my best.
