My male's sire was one of Pam's dogs, Klockows Wasdy.  My female now, is a granddaughter of Reiko von Hena C.  My male was a sound bomb proof middle of the road type temperament.  My female is a also very sound/bomb proof, crossed with czech/slovak, is much more a go go go type with a good off switch.

There are ALOT of breeders (some good, some not so good) in this area, and I doubt (not saying your friend is making anything up), she is worried about any 'competition':

My suggestion, go meet her, meet her dogs.

Jakoda, this is not a 'friend' of mine. This was just a guy who called me from that area, very disappointed that the dog he spent decent money on and was all he wanted was unable to be bred, even by the breeder. He offered to buy a female of her choosing, if I remember correctly, so that she would have some control over what the dog was bred to and so that she could help ensure it was a good match, and still the answer was no. I was trying to help him approach her by telling him what (legitimate) concerns she might have. He had a pretty good response to all of them and it did leave me scratching my head.

I think more breeders that you think care about competition, especially when they're not doing a lot more with their dogs than a buyer would do, ie, showing, titling, importing titled dogs, etc. I mean, if a breeder is breeding 2-3 generation untitled dogs, then a buyer does the same, why would that not be competition? I haven't even looked at that site in a long time, so I'm not specifically talking about VHC, just pointing out that the competition angle isn't as crazy as it sounds in some cases, especially among those touting "DDR" nonsense.

AGAIN, I don't "know" either party well...just throwing it out there as the only thing I have ever heard about that kennel. IE, if you want to breed, be careful to get that agreed to in writing up front.

Jenn, gotcha, I am not privvy to that situation so can't really comment on it, guess the only person who would know the other side of the story is Pam..

And I agree, if your intention (general you) is to breed, get it in writing..
