Really? Your thought, or did he write about it in his "Retribution"? I think he just might be wired dangerously, no matter what. There is something intrinsically missing that goes beyond an ability to understand facial cues, as in a typical Asperger's. Criminally insane, the real deal.

My thought, another garbage killer that checks out to avoid paying for their crime. What little I've caught on the selfie video is absolute jibberish. He messed up a lot of people's lives.

Ughh Stop trying to make a pre crime club, it always ends up just hurting the innocent.

I really don't know what his deal was... Too late now anyhow.

ThinkingPre crime club? What is that?

We need to examine the tough stuff, or it will get worse. That is why it matters.

Examine... OK... Little hard to do that after everyone is dead.

So, were you thinking we should examine this so we can prevent another Lanza/Elliot/Tamerlan... etc...etc...?

should be looked into if religion is a factor.

Yes, as the world gets smaller and the fire power gets bigger, society needs to re-examine. This collateral damage, is it going to keep being acceptable?

Pre-crime...lol

I like that.

Bee you need better reading material I think for starters.

What does this mean?

Yes, as the world gets smaller and the fire power gets bigger, society needs to re-examine. This collateral damage, is it going to keep being acceptable?

How does it relate to this topic?

Your insight is terribly lacking, Moons.  Work it out for yourself.

Elliot's manifesto was filled with narcissism, misogyny, loneliness, and plans for retribution.

"I concluded that women are flawed.  There is something mentally wrong with the way their brains are wired, as if they haven't evolved from animal-like thinking.  They are incapable of reason or thinking rationally. ...They are beasts themselves.  Beasts should not be able to have any rights in a civilized society. ... Women should not have the right to choose who to mate with.  That choice should be made for them by civilized men of intelligence. ... Women are like a plague that must be quarantined. ... Women must be punished for their crimes of rejecting such a magnificent gentleman as myself. ... Women's rejection of me is a declaration of war, and it it's war they want, then war they shall have. ... The first two people I shall kill are my two roommates to secure the entire apartment ... I will punish all females for the crime of depriving me of sex."

He goes into detail of how he will torture and kill his enemies including using his fathers SUV to run over groups of popular young people.  And it continues on with his diatribe of hate toward all women and good looking men.  He gives details on his "phases" of war, especially his plans for women.  He showed his parents a website dedicated to hating women and the horrific ways these men, who feel rejected by women like Elliot, would punish women.  They asked if he was lonely and then had him seen by medical doctors and psychiatrists for medication, not psychologists for therapy. Elliot's parents even hired life coach counsellors to teach Elliot social skills.  Like lack of social skills was his only problem...

Elliot describes how the police (7 of them) show up and ask him if he is suicidal, he explains it was a misunderstanding and he is ok now, the police leave.  Then Elliot ends that paragraph with "If they had demanded to search my room...that would have ended everything".  This young man had been planning retribution since shortly after puberty and he blamed it all on good looking blond men and all women.  If his account of his life is somewhat accurate, he was rarely ever received consequences for his behaviors and was indulged pretty much all the time, a fact he brags about continuously.  The only person, his step mother, who instituted boundaries with rewards and consequences, was hated by Elliot.  He lost himself in World of Warcraft and Halo 3 video games for most of his life.  This manifesto was a pretty clear cut demonstration of his state of mind.  The fact that untrained non-clinicians made the decision that Elliot was not to be committed is frightening.  In order for a licensed clinician to make the determination of whether to involuntarily commit someone on a 72-hour or 14-day psychiatric hold (called a 5150 in the state of California), there needs to be intent, means, and timetable.  Prior institutionalization has nothing to do with it.
