ML,

Today is the first day I did not wake up with a headache! I think I might survive this flu after all. I had serious doubts for a while! I am calling it the flu because my son's GF just came back from the Dr. and he said that's what she has. Which she probably got from coming over here. I told people to stay away, but do they ever listen? NO, the do not!

If number of legs were not important, why was it mentioned at all, let alone in detail?

by beetree on 21 March 2014 - 00:03

Travels,

You have to understand the context of the times for the instruction to be understood. How to understand the description of "legs" and "legs and feet"; how their function is all tied into the purpose of the bug with wings and legs and how that can determine the number. You want to justify your thinking with finding an error, and you miss the whole point. What is more important, the true message of the instruction, or a simplified misinterpretation to prove someone has an incomplete understanding of what is important?

In some cases, you'd have to be the most learned of Rabbi's to expect proper exegesis, and in then in others, the practical, prima facie meaning of the text may be lost forever.

beetree said;

"There is no error."

what??

"That is your take on it."

no it's scripture

"You want one definition to be static, and to understand the Bible, it is anything but that, IMHO. "

oh so scripture changes on personal whims

"I have actually never read the Bible and probably never will......"

you are one fickle lady, what can even be said, speaks volumes by itself.

and according to the innerrant, infallible bible Leviticus 11:5-6  Rabbits chew their cud and because of this they are unclean and our brother mammal, the bat, is a bird.   Leviticus 11:13 a list of Fowls is started, and the Bat is included in this list in Leviticus 11:19.

The locust, grasshopper, and beetle all have four feet according to Leviticus 11:22,

then in the next verse, it mentions a group of flying animals with four feet.  can you  think of any?

why should people be allowed  positions of power and influence over the rest  if this is what they believe as true

my guess no christian here will answer.

You are the mistaken one, but I am not going to do your homework, vk4. I am not the one needing convincing as to how misinterpretations happen that an uninitiated reader will make. You could re-read my point about the context of the times and the rest because it clearly went over your head.

I also have no need to prove to you what God already knows.

by vk4gsd on 21 March 2014 - 01:03

bee, the bible is innerant and infallible or it's not, which is it? nothing can be subracted or added, or have they?

"I also have no need to prove to you what God already knows."

agree, can i ask how you prove it to yourself?

Interpretation! If I said use a rotary phone and the rabbit ears on your TV, anyone under 25 wouldn't have a clue what I was talking about.

by vk4gsd on 21 March 2014 - 12:03

ML, you are the most superficial and shallowest person i have met since beetree told she has never actually read the whole bible or even much of it.
