Horrible X-ray on the first....& is that really a female? I'd insist on a refund, & go somewhere else.  If they took a female in for X-ray, I think they got the wrong films back. I can't speak to the elbows, but on the first film.....geez I swear I see male anatomy there....just sayin'!

I would not pay one cent, would give the vet  this link  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg-uyaka2Q0
and would wish him luck and hope he can learn something from this video.

you can not judge these x-rays

Nothing about that X ray is worth using.  The OFA X ray system has many flaws.  If you have 20 chances and take X rays in various positions you can really change the results just with positioning depending on what the dog's weakest point is.  Positioning is so important and getting the perfect position takes both skill and luck with each dog depending on what their particular anatomy and or weakess to be shown or hidden is.  Looks like they put tension on one leg sufficient to pull the joint apart not to mention a rolled and canted pelvis.

Thank you Stefan. I was hoping and waiting for someone to say that. I was trying to stay unbiased as I'm the one who requested these dogs be X-rayed. I didn't want the vet to dismiss my outrage as denial because they're not the results I wanted.  I wanted to get opinions and then show the owner or even talk to the vet myself, but I wanted "back up" per se. One person's opinion, in the eyes of a vet, doesn't mean a whole lot, especially when that person <gasp> breeds. An entire thread of GSD enthusiasts shocked at their incompetence might make them pause. I just hate that the dog were anesthetized for nothing, the owner paid for essentially nothing, and we're back to square one. Now what do I do, ask the owners to pay for more xrays? They'll have $1000 into this by the time we have useable xrays of these 2 dogs.

I'm trying to play w/the others and see if I can get enough contrast to see anything at all.

Owner lives in Ellenwood, GA, outside Atlanta. If anyone knows of a GOOD OFA vet near there, please speak up. Thanks so much. I want to show him this and try to help him get a refund. He should not have to pay for these.

They should demand a full refund. There are standards for diagnostic hip x-rays and the vet did not follow them. Are they sure the vet took the x-rays and not a high school student playing around with equipment?

LMAO. I thought maybe they told the dog to it herself. They're not so bad for someone without thumbs.

I upped the contrast and made it a little clearer. Anyone besides me think a nearly 4yr old dog who has been worked should have more damage to both her femoral head and her socket if her hips were really that bad?
