Then how about triple purpose?

by Gustav on 23 January 2014 - 12:01

I judge a dog to be world class based on their excellence at what they are asked to do. I have seen some world class sport dogs, world class obedience dogs, world class police and military dogs, etc. I say this as the world class dog is actually a combination of the dog/training/handler in producing the accomplishments. Just like a world class athlete is product of ability/training/coaching. That's why world class dog are often not good producers of equal quality to themselves. But I always give appreciation to the accomplishment of the dog that makes it world class even if it's a world class pet. Ideally, we hope that dog has world class working abilities to give foundation for accomplishment. Jmo.

What ever happened to words like champion, great, accomplished?

this thread is  related to the "Dog Behavorist'' one which is currently getting a lot of attention. Animal behavorist/dog trainer or Top blood lines/ world class breeding. The make-money-any-way-you-can breeder will use misleading terms to confuse the subject . The i-know-better-than-anybody-else dog trainer who calls themself a dog whisperer or dog screamer/scammer behavoirist muddies the water to get contracts.                                                                                                                                                                                    The OP says she has one out of 3 dogs bought from ''world class bloodlines'' which is exactly what she wanted. Could what she wanted be what gustave refered to as ''world class pet''. Before i shop for a vehicle I know whether I need a pick up truck or sedan. If it is a pick up truck I need to think 6 cyclinder or 8, 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton and so on. If I am shopping for is a pet, I must go thru the same evaluation process. active life style? Good with kids, Keep the thugs out of my back yard? We should encourage and educate the buying public to research their purchase.

So many advertising sales gimmicks makes you wonder about the target buyers they seek out doesn't it?

Surely there would be nothing wrong with talking about
puppies coming from 'world-class bloodlines'  if that was
substantiated by references to 'honours won' by the
sire / paternal & maternal grandsires / even the dam
herself if she was a highly titled bitch ?

I think we ought to distinguish between that occasional sort
of ad., and the kind that states the puppies are themselves
'world class' or similar, which is obvious nonsense ?  Of which
there are quite a lot.   Buyer beware.

Hired Dog ------>>> Thumbs Up

Moons, didn't Steve Martin have a, "special purpose?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymucqmjJs20

So, if the parents only made it to the BSP, does that make the puppies, "German Nationals Class Dogs???"
If one parent competed at the BSP and the other competed at the LGA's, but, didn't qualify for the BSP, are the puppies stuck in limbo somewhere in between?
What if the great-grandfather on the step-mother's side once removed won the worlds and then was sold to a third world country, but, the owner of the dam is incapable of even putting a BH on a dog?
What does this make the puppies???
This is all very confusing! I thought, "World Class", meant that the puppies passed a class that taught them all about the world?? What Smile

OGBS, wtf is a dog's "step-mother"  ?Wink Smile

GSD's are world class because their breeders say so. The worst GSD I ever owned was from a "world class" breeder and "world class parents".
