I assume that you looked for the cap in every other conceivable place before assuming the puppy swallowed it?? The cap could have rolled under a cabinet or appliance such as a stove or a refrigerator. Since you didn't actually see the puppy swallow it I would look high and low to make sure the cap didn't go somewhere else besides the puppy. If the cap can't be found anywhere then I like the puppy for it but assuming she swallowed the cap that quickly could be false unless the puppy is accustomed to being fed in the kitchen off the floor. Pups put a lot of things in their mouth but don't swallow most of them. An x ray should tell the tale but you will feel pretty silly if the cap was under the dishwasher and you pay for an x ray to find that it is not in the puppy's GI tract.

beetree - breeding dogs is not an income producing adventure. you an only deduct as much as you make. So far, routine expenses such as food, vaccinations, training, showing takes up all of the proceeds that comes in from any puppies that are produced. Taking a dog to the vet for an emergency, especially on a weekend comes out of my pocket. I breed to improve the breed we all love - improving temperament, and working drives in SL's, while avoiding extremes in structure. I keep the puppies I like and work with them, and sell the rest with limited registration.
IMO - - bashing me or any other breeder for selling puppies and attempting making a profit seems a bit silly, go find an ASPCA, or PETA site, as such comments would be welcomed there.
babbabobo - a quick x-ray would show the metal in the pups gut and before stomach acids have a chance to dissolving it and before it they get into the bloodstream. This could be very dangerous for this puppy. X-ray at an ER will put someone back about $200 and well worth it.
