OFA is not the only precurser to breedworthiness. Working titles, AD, Koerung, and please remember that not every animal receiving KKL1 truly has something to offer the breed. I know very well that it is difficult to restrain oneself once one catches the "breeding bug", but please consider the wellbeing of this young female as well as the ultimate goal of breeding. Best Wishes, Jonah

Jonah, your message is meaningful, but not many will heed it.

Have never had to insert my finger into any female to break anything and wouldn't recommend that be done by someone experienced or not... First thing, you control who your stud dog gets bred to.. do so Second, if you run up against a situation where you have trouble and you are a novice why wouldn't you seek the help of your vet or an experienced person (in person not via a website for heavens sake!) to help you..

A bitch will get pg if the male has an outside tie the same as she will with in inside one. This bitch may already be pregnant. Am I misunderstand what "finishing outside" meant? I've never had to rupture a bitch's hymen either. If her hymen is that thick, then a trip to the vet is in order. That may be why she won't stand for the dog. She may have a stricture. I doubt titling is going to enter into this picture LOL.

jdh, Your absolutely correct, and if that was meant at me well read it again, I said it's the very minimum of things to be done before breeding, Not to mention, Bloodwork, Titles, KoerKlass, Ratings, Hell my two foundation bitches are even optically certified, Not that GSD's require or even need it, But they are. If that was not meant at me, Well I will say I can appreciate you taking the time to point out that there are many things to be done before breeding should be considered. Brings a good question, Zmeli, did you have this bitch pulled for brucellosis before you bred her ?? If not and she's posative, Your Stud, Is DONE !! And she will likely not whealp anything that will live past a few months if you get that lucky. If that was not already done, I would suggest it is the very next thing you do, If' she's possative, might as well spay her this week, and not even allow that litter be born, that would be just mean. Not trying to be mean to you just thought I would throw that out there, Hopefully you've already had the necessary tests done, But you know the female is not even 2 so makes the question come to mind.

Echo, Definitely not directed at you. Just adding my 2 cents regarding casual breeding practices. Happy New Year, Jonah

If I had to go thru all that extra finger and lube job mess I wouldnt be breeding that female. Ive been breeding many years and never had to do not one thing for any female to get bred after 2 years. Some females are not good breeding stock . She may have trouble delivering , or even carrying, who knows. I dont mess with male or female either one if they are a natural......

if they are not a natural*

At day 12, I really doubt she was ready andthat oculd also be a reason why she wouldn't stand ... again progesterone testing would be a good thing, requires a vet visit... hmmm.. heard that before
