Glad he is better; and regarding the cinnamon; for people it helps to balance the blood sugar. Nan

That's why I say forget the holistic crap when dealing with fleas! My girl, Star, has allergies, and reacts very severely to even a single flea bite. As soon as I see her scratching, I break out the Advantage, and treat everyone. Two treatments, a month apart, are generally enough to get rid of the problem. I also step up the vacuuming, especially doing the crevices of the sofas and chairs, if I know my dogs have been lying on them. (I know my little angel sneaks up there when I'm out of the house, because I can feel the warm spot when I come home!)

D.... He is gorgeous!!!! i haven't seen photos of him in a long time...he looks very mature, he reminds me of a grisly bear in his facial expression...

Check his thyroid or just give him a thyroid supplement and see if it helps if the condition returns. I had a female 7 years old with the same symptoms .. antibiotics would cure it but it came right back several times for a year or more. I started giving her raw thyroid and she grew her hair back and was fine after that.

Word of note if using Comfortis as a preventive: Some dogs cannot handle the meds. Every time I have given this to any of my dogs, they itch even more.
We are now using Advantage Multi. Worked well for the fleas and also has the heartworm preventive; nothing for ticks though. We are alternating the Advantage and a topical Tick med; 2 weeks between dosages. I started seeing ticks in February, so they will likely be bad this year too (at least in the Texas area).
As for fleas in the house, salt seems to work well, especially in getting into all the little cracks and crevices. I am not sure about carpet; salt may bleach it out if it gets wet.
