gsdlvr2, Maggie never once stated anywhere - on the contrary - that her dog Flick produced sable puppies when bred to a black and tan/brown female.
Where did you ever find that?

It is amazing how many people think you can get sable without a sable parent. I just stopped argueing with them that think this. Now, I must say I have seen dogs that LOOK to be black/tan that are actually sable! I think that is where you get those people who 'think' they can produce it.
I bred a black/red dog to an all black dog. ALL pups where what I call a 'blanket black'. They have some red/tan on them (mostly on feet and a bit of it above eye and on head) but they are not 'bi-colors...although you will find some people call blanket blacks, bi's.
I bred the same bitch above to a sable and got 5 sables and 4 blanket blacks.
