Thank you, Molly. I have a male with similar coloring to Alk. In a picture, or from far away, he could be mistaken for a Black and Red, but he is a sable. And, since, as you say, in SV land there is no 'red sable' I don't know how to classify his and Alk's coloring. I guess Black Sable with red markings comes as close as anything.
This is a top show line of grey/black GSD:

All these males are located in Maryland, 2 with my husband and the other one, Kimon with a friend of ours. To the best of my knowledge, these are the only V-rated sable conformation line males which are actively used as stud dogs in the U.S.
This is very sad and I hope that this will change one of these days. There should be more to breeding GSDs than just black and reds.

I'm sorry I don't have a translated version of Carol's Korung yet. He is a wonderful dog, sitting at my feet as I write this, waiting to go out to the puppies' day pens to help me herd them inside for the night.
Although not a show line dog, he was 2x V in the BSZS and is producing beautiful progeny with working line and show line females. Carol (call name "T") is truly a joy to have around. Look for his youngsters in the '07 Sieger Shows in North America and in the BSZS next year. Not many are on the database yet, but I do have pix of his two yr. old litter (repeat of my 9 week old B-Litter) and will add them and post pix as time allows. You can see many of his brothers/sisters & extended family at www.frauengarten.net and www.arolser-holz.de.
Carol goes to Wunni Arolser Holz, a full sister to my gorgeous old dog V Pallo Arolser Holz, SchH 3, KK1, deceased in May this yr :(((. Some of you may remember Pallo. I shoved him down the show dog prople's throats for years. LOL

Let'snot forget the females..
eichenuft
Your females look exceptional. Appear to be very strong type females.
Anyone have another female to show?
Silbersee, V-Ronaldo and V-Bosco look to be very attractive, well proportioned dogs. Congratulations to the owners of these very fine GSDs. Who says sables can't have top confirmation structure! These do. I'll bet they can increase pigment, bone and robustness in black and reds. That's why Arlett kennels has always maintained a parallel sable line. You've go some seriously valuable stud dogs.
