I don't know how hips could be any better than Trace's. Any copies of the fairs that looked the same? The positioning isn't perfect, but it's diagnostic and shouldn't need to be repeated.

We will never know how OFA would rate this dog, the xray is going to the SV. Frankly, I'd be jumping for joy if this were my dog.

I agree with Blitzen, the positioning isn't   the best but not bad enough to redue. We can see want we needed to see. I will post the result from the SV. Thanks everyone for you reply.

A normal for both is my guess. Good Luck!

I don't have copies of my 2, my vet keeps all my xrays, sorry!  Let us know how they rate, good luck!

Blitzen, the positioning doesn't change the sockets, the sockets do not look perfect. Considering these are going to the sv these are fast normal. Your making fair rating sound bad blitzen, don't forget it is still passing!!!

You'd better read my posts again, 1020ma. I've never said or suggested that OFA  fair hips are anything other than normal hips. We'll see how the SV rates them. How about some details on what you consider irregularities in Trace's hip xray?

by 1020ma on 07 April 2013 - 10:04

1.) minor hip incongruency, right hip is higher than other.
2.)sockets are shallow.
3.) if you look closely at the right hip (left on the screen) you will see that where the ball of the joint is there is some remolding of the socket.

Blitzen, I was also giving the benefit of the doubt because these positioning is not very good. I was going to say mild, unilateral. But because the positioning isn't great, fair. Considering these are going to the SV, they will most likely get fast normal or noch zugelassen. I do not see these getting a-normal.

I don't agree at all. I see a dog with excellent hip conformation and none of the issues you addressed above especially shallow sockets and remodeling. One side is higher than the other due to the positioning, not the dog's hip  conformation. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the SV has to say. My guess is A1, It's not going to OFA so we'll never know

OFA fair = fast normal

Blitzen, the yellow line represents socket remodeling. The green circle represents shallow socket, same spot on the other hip.
