Many years ago I had a Great Dane, he started out squatting to pee. Eventually he decided to lift his leg Well he fell over and from then on he never lifted his leg agan.

Give him some time. In six more months your dog will be way different than he is now. My male squatted and/or stretched out to pee until just one day he lifted his leg. Now at almost two years of age some days he is a stretcher and some days he is a lifter. I guess it depends on the mood.

Our little mutt rarely lifts his leg, and he is 13 now.

Be thankful that he doesnt lift his leg. It saves your bushes from dying a slow death. Most of my males have not lifted a leg. I like it and so did my plants

Bcrawford's description of the 2 yr old exactly reflects
my 10 yr old - so they can go on being variable about
it all their lives !

i think i saw somewhere a long time ago, that the leg lifting is something they to to show dominance, or to make, other than that a lot of male dogs will pee like females, just a squat

Our young dog has never squatted to pee. When we got him at 7 wks he peed like an adult male & scratched up the grass with his back legs when he'd finished. He first lifted his leg at 10mths. They are all different so i don't think there is cause for concern.

I was told that the situation can be quickly corrected, if the pup observes the owner peeing on one leg, with the other leg lifted.

I wish mine didn't lift their legs. I have a young male GSD who doesn't yet (fingers crossed!) and an APBT who has lifted his leg, since, no joke, 10 weeks.I attributed it to "monkey see, monkey do." It's sooooo nice to have dogs who don't mark everything.
