The compassionless deserve none themselves, I think.
Bravo to Blitzen for her efforts. I am sure that has to be emotionally draining, too, to experience firsthand the ordeal of the actual rescue for so many animals. I am going to help with some funding, gladly. I also have noticed the quickness of this board to denounce HSUS and ASPCA, at the drop of a hat, gleefully lumping them in with PETA. Yet, when the suffering gets ignored by all other resources, it is always those organizations who are stepping in and doing something for the defenseless and the abused animals. A rather odd relationship that has been cultivated by many dog lovers, I think.

Moons, you sure can be an insensitive ass sometimes! Yes, I agree that temperament has been allowed to go down the crapper in some breeds, but this is NOT what is being addressed here!
I think you're a war vet, right? Think soldiers that have been in a war zone, not the ones that dodged the draft because they were too chicken to serve! "Oh, they've got PTSD...just take 'em out and shoot 'em! They'll never be any good!"
I'm goinna call you General Patton from now on!
I think you're old enough to get the reference...
Blitzen, a donation will be headed your way before the day is over, I promise! The details you gave on those huskies are stomach-churning!

I am sure that for the people involved in this, it will haunt them. It takes very special people.
Blitzen, thank you for standing up and doing something, for having compassion and for trying. I don't have any spare funds right now unfortunately, but if I did, I would certainly be happy to donate for these dogs. Maybe you could update those of us that care sometime?

We tried to get his guy out of business for almost 5 years. If not for the HSUS' intervention, it would still be going on.The entire story is on the Lewis & Clark humane society website - google Malamute Village if interested.
The confiscation involved 167 adults and puppies, about 12 of the bitches were pg, all very much underweight. Some aborted, some whelped after being rescued, about 50% of the little pups did not survive and the litters were generally small. Most of the dogs have been placed in foster homes or have forever homes waiting for them. It was a challenge to get the transportation arranged from MT to various area rescues, the ASPCA once again stepped up to the plate with money and volunteers. There are only a few dogs remaining to be adopted, those few that are going into ASPCA rehab, a mega-e youngster born at the Village - 2 pups in that litter, both had mega-e that is being managed, one has already gone to a home and is doing very well.
He was convicted of 91 charges of animal abuse, sentence to 30 years, 25 suspended and ordered to pay back the money that was spent on the dogs - that's never going to happen, he is indigent. He still awaits his trial for a rather large illegal pot growing operation that was discovered by the HSUS in the raid.
Thanks so much for all the positive remarks about these dogs, I'll contact you privately. Your offers of donations are wonderful and it's also heartwarming to know that you care about dogs that are not your own breed. I'm amazed that only a handful of these 200+ dogs have not responded to rehab while at Malamute Village. Those are the dogs that will be given second chances at the new ASPCA facility.
As for the naysayers, all good dogs deserve second chances. I pity you if you don't understand that concept; had you seen what I've seen, I think you might change your mind. Nothing is more convincing for a dog lover than seeing a photo of an emaciated dog chewing on the jawbone of a dead kennel mate in order to survive. I will never be convinced that every one of those dogs don't deserve second chances.

Abby, when the dogs started to be moved out of Malamute Village to their new homes and fosters, those that had cared for and loved them for over a year wept. They saw most transformed from emaciated, feral dogs that avoided all human contact into trusting dogs that no longer dragged their food inside their house to eat.
Some people deserve to burn in hell.
Some people deserve to burn in hell.

Blitzen, yes some people do deserve to burn in hell, they really, really do. It bewilders me that anyone could ever think that any of the dogs don't deserve a chance. It's not even as though they are the ones being asked to do it or even put their hands in their pockets.....
I'm sure it was both heartbreaking and heartwarming to see those dogs transformed and going to new homes.

I applaud you and everyone who has come forward to help these poor dogs. That is awesome. Do you have a Paypal account? I'm not going to waste my time responding to the OP and those who agree with him. I can't relate to that kind of mentality...and to think these are people who profess to love dogs...scary.

by Blitzen on 13 March 2013 - 18:03
We do have a PayPal account, Char. I'll pm you with the details. Thanks so much!

It took a lot of people to make this work, my involvement was really marginal compared to most. Please don't ever turn a blind eye to animal cruelty.

I went to the website and what beautiful dogs with such wonderful and happy expressions! Bless all who fought for them, including the ASPCA!
