Congrats!
About the jitters - neither does your dog care about points, nor do points change your dog.
It´s all about personal success.
Try to think different!

Susie, you are right - I need to reframe the experience.

Congrats! Bravo is a handsome boy.
We're hoping to get our BH this year... so I'll have to take notes from this thread, LOL!

Congrats on the BH. I wish I had some ideas on how to calm the jitters. I don't get too nervous until the leash comes off. I never worry about my dog leaving the ring, but I do worry that I will do something stupid to DQ her and I have done that. Rally is always the worst for me, miss one sign or don't do one of the exercises in the right order and that's it for that day. I'd much rather show a dog in conformation than any OB class including the BH where the handler needs to remember the entire pattern. My goal is never more than to qualify, high scores aren't a big deal.

I think the key is to have done the pattern so many times (in practice) that your feet just go on "auto-pilot"...
Before every trial I'm very nervous...but as soon as I hit the field I feel at home...
A long time ago a very nice judge told me something that I always remember...and that is..."The training is over (for now) and you can't do anything but trust your dog to do what you've taught them to do...So just try and relax and enjoy yourself"...

Excellent statement from that Judge Qman. That is the absolute truth.

I wasn't worried about the dog or about the pattern.......it was stage fright... LOL

Sorted. Go to Crufts!!! Just been there today to work my baby boy in the Inter regional obedience. He is only just 2, and such an awesome experience. Went round the ring with spectators on 4 sides, and cameras everywhere. After that I think we can do anything!!!!! A show would be a breeze.
Gives me confidence for the rest of our obedience season. May not be Schutzhund, but the pressure is just as great. Good luck with your next competitions. And enjoy!

One of the things that may calm your pretrial jitters is knowing that your abilities are way beyond mine and probably always will be no matter how much I learn. I am still constantly amazed at some of the skills and knowledge that so many here and those who I'm acquainted with show.
