GSDpack, I didn't think we were "getting into it"  by having a discussion on a public forum! just for your info, I am not a broker, I import pups to show/breed myself for my own small hobby kennel. The 5 total pups bought from z Elbu were not purchased at the same time, well not even the same year!  They just so happened to have the lines I was looking for at the time, so I bought from them twice.  I am very aware people can buy whatever they want. Personally I wouldn't need a guarantee on an older dog already xrayed, that's what a guarantee is for in the first place.  If they've already been xrayed then no need to guarantee them to have good hips/elbows. I merely was telling others on this forum the be careful where they buy from, as not everyone will have dogs that will pass their OFA'S or guarantee them.   Anyway, I'm sorry if I apparently ruffled your feathers, so you don't have to bother wasting your time replying back. I'm done here.

Cmills,
I am sorry for being so short and pissy.
We all have our ways to do things, does not mean we are always right, or wrong, just diferent.
:o)

that is true, and thanks for apologizing. Yes this is a big world we live in, and we all do things differently. I would just hate to put someone else through what I went through when I had what I thought were 5 really nice dogs, spent 2 years working with them and raising them, loving them, only to have to place 4 of 5 into pet homes. That was heartbreaking. Just want others to be careful when buying!

I would have been a "little" frustrated myself if that happened to me too. And yes, I agree, people should know what to expect from breeders they purchase the puppies from.

Maybe I have a bad hair day today! That must be the reason I am so jumpy!

I agree with Gsdpack when it comes to this issue....I have never had the expectations from European breeders of guarantees and replacements if the puppy develops normal health issues. That's not the culture....doesn't mean you might not find a larger SL kennel there today that might not give a discount or puppy replacement, but it is not the norm in my experience or the culture. That's my experience importing my first dog from Germany in 1975.

here's the thing........when you buy from europe, the cost of the exporter (usually gradlyn) plus the cost of the
freight, suddenly becomes more than the cost of the pup.  if the dollar is down (has been for the past several
years)  it complicates the whole matter.  i've imported from germany & belgium and never had such a guarantee
on pups.  i've never dealt with a czech breeder.  my best advice is not to spend more than you can afford to
loose-----nutshell version of gsdpack.  my last import experience was exactly as i said:  gradlyn + shipping actually
did cost me more than the puppy.  i'm not complaining, just saying it like it is.  if a guarantee/replacement is
important to you, you should buy within the u.s.where the walmart philosophy is popular---meaning you can take
it back to the store for any reason with a full refund.  shipping & shipper costs make certain things more
prohibitive for euro breeders.  that's just geography.  :)
