I have heard nothing but health problems from this kennel, why would you even go to them; I am sorry for your loss and particularly for your poor dog, horrific problem and believe me you do not want a dog with DM to take care of that is also a very debilitating doggy problem and also horrific to watch your dog not be able to walk or even get up; not what I want for my dog. So sorry again for your loss. Nan

My question was to the person whose dog is a DM carrier and I agree with Nans gsd that no one wants a dog with DM but carriers are not typically afflicted, at least with the non-GSD form of the affliction. Still, my question was a serious one...did the person to whom I was responding specify that he/she wanted only a pup that was clear and have this written into the contract?

Thank you for sharing that article on seizures; it's interesting they keep referring to Belgian Shepherds, and pic's of the Terv's so I am wondering if that 20% figure of the Belgian breeds means all of them including the Malinois?? Maybe we will someday hear. I know the Terv's and Belgian Sheepdogs have a high incident of epilepsy and it is inhereitable in those two Belgian breeds as it is in Siberian Huskys and Alaskan Malamutes and I believe Samoyeds also. Just food for thought. Nan Thx again.

why did you buy from such a garbage kennel its not like they ever had a good reputation. WHo leaves a returned dog in an airport and refuses to pick it up? What did you expect?

Nan, yes, the incidence of epilepsy in Malinois is that of it in the Groenendael and the Terv.
To the OP, I'm sorry for your loss; it is disheartening to have to watch your dog have a seizure and there's little you can do to give them any assistance. So this problem, too, gets added to the laundry list of problems coming out of Kraftwerk K9, along with the premature kidney failure and a myriad of other issues.
WRT to Curry's assertion that there's 'no proof' idiopathic epilelpsy is a heritable condition in GSDs, balderdash. Consult any veterinary neurology text, and you'll find the GSD listed among the breeds in which it IS accepted by the profession as being genetic in source.

I do not know the company or anyone there but I've seen the article about the dog fiasco when a owner did not want it. Seen some things on rip-off-report.
I remember going to their website and being amazed that some good money was paid to someone to build that site but they had a image on there of some kids jumping on a trampoline. The dog in the foreground appears to be floating on top. Then there is a dog in the background appearing to be jumping up on the trampoline but if you look under the trampoline where is its legs? Where are the shadows? The girl jumping has one on her leg but there is not any under the objects.. just looks wierd.
Bad, bad photoshopping!

@Keith Grossman My contract called for a pup clear of all inherent genetic defaults. My problem is not a refund based one, but that they pretended like this was the first time they have ever heard of a DM problem in their program. I was in contact with the owner of my pups litter mate, and she told me before hand that she told them of this. I never asked for a refund that was their response to it. I just wanted them to at least inform the buyer of what they where getting and have the litter tested before hand.
