Mythbusters (TV show) did a thing on getting rid of skunk smells and all of the common home remedies were tried....the one TrailRider posted was the one they had the most success with. p.s. had to use it here once and it works great. Never thought to use it in the house although that seems such an obvious good use for it.

Trailrider's formula is the acceptable one that works the best. You WILL NOT completely remove the smell-that will take much time. The worst incident that i ever had involved three (3) dogs being sprayed by the same skunk at the same time. They all ran into the house and proceeded to wipe their faces on me as their eyes and noses were very irritated. So while my wife mixed the formula I managed to get all three (3) into a very crowded shower and close the door. My eyes and lungs were burning as well and I felt as if I was in a gas chamber. Over the years I had dealt with one (1) dog at a time but never anything such as this. The critical parts of the dog are the mucous membranes of the nose and eyes. Since most are sprayed in the face these areas need to be carefully cleaned with pure water. It will be many weeks before your dog is again an acceptable member of the family. Just don't wash the dog everyday, as this will dry the coat and skin. After the initial treatment, time is the best cleaner. Trust me-the dog will never learn from this experience. Bob-O
