Very informative, all the replies, thanks for the good info, Sunsilver has a strong notice, also is wise and fair "I have a pet theory about the SL that you don't have to agree with. I think a lot more of them could work if the owners and handlers took the time to develop their drive, rather than focusing on trotting around the ring on a tight lead..."

Susie,

You said: there are still SL able to work... Ando, Yasko, the linebreeding on Cary Fiemereck and Daggi Farbenspiel...

Which Ando? will you say the full name please

Ziegenfarm, I only thought if a 5 years old male is " only " SchH1 rated, but Ashah says he´s a good working dog, this dog must be doing something else ( police, PPD,...).
I was just curios, because I don´t know this dog. You are right, SchH is no real work, it is what it is called - "sport", but for most Shepherd owners this sport still is the best possibility to train their dogs in tracking, obidience, and bitework ( a lot of different drives are asked for this kind of  sport ).

Sunsilver´s statement is well known truth...

Ibrahim, during the years I saw some good working Ando Altenberger Land sons and daughters ( like everywhere, not all of them were great, but more than a few).

Thanks Susie, that's a very good piece of info, it helps a lot when one studies a pedigree

Studying pedigrees might be interesting, but at the end you need to see the dog, not only the parents or grandparents.
You never know, there are far too many possibilities of genetic combinations within a breeding.
Even in a litter out of great working line ancestors you sometimes only find pet quality.
In pedigrees you will find a tendency, but not the truth.

Correct you are as usual

Wow thank you all for your input. I feel like I am running blind with my eyes open.

I haven't managed to see this dog yet, he is 1500km on the otherside of the country, but working out if it is worth the trip.

I see dogs in his lines I would kill to own, I know little about dogs outside my country, Australia.

I would like to say here was up with the world in dog sports but sadly not, this year getting their first what I would call their real judge in nationals.

Hw was bought by someone for breeding, imported breed and now lives on a farm and is hunting down the sheep, am told he is a great dog as a guard dog, great with kids, family other dogs, but not good for the farm.

My biggest consern is, why would you go to that much expence to import a dog and a few years later sell him to live in someones  yard. He is only sch1 yes but here show people don't have to do anything like that for breeding. Well no one does, breed anything which is what ruins the lines.

Wow DDR I love, and hope to one day import my own, would today if I could afford the $25k for the dog I want,  van Brandevoort kennel , and the lines are what I have in my girl.

I like the dog because he has prey drive, I will test him with bitework when I go to see him, and like he is social.
My girl is hard, doesn't like anyone she doesn't know and bites full hard and the person, she likes to get around the protection of the decoy.

This is her pedigree

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=569098

You can see why Brandevoort kennels is my interest, her having the lines. She is 5.5 yrs old.

I would want any of the dog in Zamb's pedigree going back 3 generations, this is what keeps telling me he will be something more then just a showline dog. The man that owns him said he doesn't back down, not sure if he says it like I would. But when the dog has been in trouble, he said he doesn't back down or shy off. I am taking this information as a good sign, but will see the dog myself and try him on a sleeve.

I will add, yesterday I was told one of my pups now 11 months old had bitten an aggessive person who came at his owner, not being trained to do it, it is instinct the mother passes to them. I also had one trained for police work and by 7 months old was ready. My girl has everything you want in a girl, I don't have everything to do with her to show her qualities. Though we did finally start bite work, she has alway had no problem biting people. The trainer in the first lesson invited security companies to come and see her. He love her, she thinks and knows he has protection and works to get around it and got him. And he still loves her. I am sad to say I am not the proffessional my dog is and to waste her and what she can produce would be criminal. She is no prey drive full civil drive, so the males I put to her need to put prey into the pups as the first male I used.

I am also so happy you people are here, I have found dog people don't like to help or share, were as I see we should all do it together. It isn't about me doing it on my own, I need what is out there as well. I know in one litter alone I have made a difference and they will be used in lines for many years to come. I have achivied what I wanted. Now to keep it up and get better. It isn't about me, it is about knowing I have and can get a good healthy dog that will give people a lifetime of joy and not vet trips, protect the family and be safe with kids, and balanced drives. I would do dog sports but lucky to have 1 club a state and then I find the ego building reasons they do it, so sadly until I set up my own training space, I will enjoy to play with my dogs.

BIG HUGS TO ALL OF YOU FOR SHARING :)

It was supossed to be but made more calls today and it isn't.
I spoke to the lady that owns him and she said he isn't for sale.
Have tried to ring the ones that say they are selling him and no one asnswering.
I think it was a scam.
I am sorry to waste your time but I have learnt plenty from what I did, just need to know what I am looking for.

Do you want to buy a male or are you looking for a stud?
I know breeding in Australia isn´t that easy, but there are some good dogs around.
I would look for a suitable stud instead of buying ...
