Finally got the protection footage uploaded.  Couldn't use the footage I'd taken as I was shaking too much, had to get it from our friends who fortunately had a tripod!

Its amazing to watch it back. It really was the proudest day of my life to see all our work over the past 4 years pay off.  When the helper shook dads hand, which I didn't see the helpers do for any other handler over the whole competition, I'm not ashamed to say it made me cry Cry Smile

Anyway, here is Vongalanberg Kai's Protection Round.  I hope you enjoy it!

Stylish and convincing.  And I LOVED the unhesitating backward walk on recall out
from the hold & bark in the blind;  also the way he NEVER takes his eyes off the
decoy while escorting.   Would be hard to 'get one over on' Kai !

We thought that maybe teaching him the call out from the hide coming backwards was a bit of a bad idea after a while.  You see some of the top trainers do it where the dogs come flying backwards into a perfect heel position without a moments hesitation.  However hard we tried we couldn't get Kaiser to do it like that, he's so intense to the man that he comes back grudgingly rather than willingly.

But on the day it seemed to work in his favour because there was a couple of seconds where it looked like he wouldn't make it and the whole crowd seemed to hold its breath.  When he finally got back to dad it was a huge relief and he'd got everyones attention.

I had two old Austrian guys next to me who were jabbing me in the ribs asking me questions about him that I couldn't answer in German but they seemed to be really enjoying the whole performance.

A very nice performance, again.... I am very impressed with this dog.

I would take one like him in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!!  You also have some very nice offspring from him as well.

I love that dog.  I noticed him before and I was always impressed!  With bredding including Nick, Yoschy, Zidane, Fado, I love it as many of those are in my dogs,  Congrats!  Plus he is stunningly gorgeous as well as impressive in performance.  I hope he reporoduces himself well!  I am sure we will hear about him again!

He has got a good pedigree on both sides.  Everyone knows about his fathers side but I didn't know much about his mothers pedigree until an American pointed out how good that side is, too.

As for Kaiser, he's reproduced himself very well so far!

My female from him is I think the closest genetically to Kai out of the dogs I've seen, but I haven't seen all of his progeny.  A lot of his early "tester" litters when he was young and unqualified were mainly bred for our friends in the police and prison services with relatively unknown females, but they're supposed to be very good service dogs.  One in particular is in service in Northern Ireland and is quite well known in the police, who have a very difficult job over there!

Anyway, this is my female

And this shows the rest of the dogs (beit at a very young age) from that litter, the first where he was bred with a well known female in the UK, Carlsbro Quinta (daughter of Tyson von Schiffslache)

Two of these pups are in the police the rest are in IPO.

He's now sired quite a few litters in the UK and we're even exporting his semen to breeders as far away as Australia, now.

He's still a young dog, but what he has produced has been very consistent - especially in health.  Hips and Elbows are excellent across the board.

He's just been bred to Nikita Von Der Mohnwiese who was confirmed pregnant today after being scanned at the vets.  We're very excited to see how they turn out Regular Smile
