I am aware of very high prices being offered for TOP quality animals in many animal sports, even Pigeon racing. I was once in discussion with the owner of such a TOP specimen, and when I questioned the value, he replied, "it is only worth what someone is willing to pay" if anyone is uncomfortable with the knowledge of the high price paid, they are uncomfortable from a position of ENVY"

that goes foreverything, if no one was willing to pay $45k for a cadillac but would pay $50 for a VW then that would be the price.
i know of a breeder who has an ad in USA magazine, a great write on the website, and know all the key words and lingo. now too the guy/gal who gets his 1st magazine, this breeder has got to be the real deal. and im sure they would be willing pay $1500. but if they new the breeder had never titled a dog, had never trained dog to anything other than a BH, and had only shown a dog that was titled in germany, and managed to fail several times w/ a dog tht was in the BSP.
Would they be willing to pay $1500 for a puppy?
I probably a little harder critic than most but, evryone has a great stud and great females who have awesome drives and grips w/ a BH (ever notice that they are always trainig for the sch1). show all i ask is show me something, if youre giong to hang your hat on titles. show me high scores, if youre gonna hangyour hat on your puppies wokring ability show me several (ie Molly Graff..who has several dogs that have shown in national event).
at the end of the day "perception is reality" if you percieve the puppy you just paid $3000 for to be worth every cent, then it is. untill something forces you to change your perception

I'd want more than just a big black dog for $9800.:)

You people have way too much time on your hands. This posters perception of the value of this dog is his perception and his only. If one feels this dog is priced too high, then don't concern yourself with it. He has a value that he perceives is adequate for this dog, and he has that right. And to think that because a dog has a title or has competed in regional and national events says a dog is worthy, is just silly. I can count to the moon the number of police dogs who have been sold to departments, who have never been titled, or shown in regional and national events, also there are many estate dogs who have never been titled or shown at a national event. Not all dogs are sold as sport competition dogs, remember that people. This breed is extremely versatile it is not just for competition, have an open mind about this great versatile dog.

I like the ones that are great show and great schutzhund prospects. How many show dogs do you see that would rather run than bite a sleeve? How many of these folks hire a known schutzhund helper to work their dog so they can advertise that so and so says my dog has a great bite? How much did they have to pay that helper? Anything to sell a dog.
