Desert Rangers this might just be a pet dog not bred for sound nerves just bred to be a loving family companion. They probably havent socialized it. But thats not the point. The point is a dog LIFE !! has been lost.

Lewis you are a real case. Why not be a real man and take care of your own? People that don't keep their pets secure are killed all the time by traffic. Don't judge me saying the point is a dog's life. I have rescued more dogs and spent more money on other people's problem because of attitudes like yours. I have also caught and returned dozens of dogs to their homes. I have never lost one of my dogs due to neglect or not securing them properly. I could care less if you like fireworks or not. Hope you keep your liberal backside out of Texas as your type is not welcome.

Very well done desert rangers I respect your opinion good night.

by Lewis_hartley on 06 November 2006 - 00:11

I dont feel i have an attitude and i havent i can assure you. Sorry to upset you. But we all have different opinions.

by Lewis_hartley on 06 November 2006 - 00:11

Maybe i went a bit over board and my dogs are always kept secure. And my dogs work so like you said socializing them is key. On my behalf accept and apology just is really upsetting to hear of things like this.

well what can i say the fireworks are very loud i do not like the loud screaming of fireworks and i am sure that most dogs do not like the noise no matter if the nerves are of steal this noise does bother most dogs so i do not blame week nerves and accedents happen dogs bolt as the noise is not natural to them and this was a x gsd also taken in by a good person who loves this dog and yes fireworks should be ban. why do people enjoy guy fox as mr guy fox did not do anything to be proud of he missed diji god bless you for caring and it is very sad about this poor dog as thay will be many more poor dogs cats ect that will suffer becasue of bad owners and bad people having so called fun and the miss use of fireworks and yes my dogs are secure and not bothered by the noise but thay are many more dogs that have been socialised and is bothered with the noise so you can not blame the owners yes these owners should make sure that the dogs ect are secure and safe

Ask 100 people who own dogs... Doyou know how to socialize a dog ? typical response will be... what is that ? 62% to 86% Ask 100 people who own dogs... Do you properly secure your dog ? They'll look at you stupid and say hhh? 45% to 60% Our expectations of the "typical" "pet" owner are way too high, I'm sorry but that is just the simple truth. They feed Ol'Roy, and buy flea collars every 6 months or when the old one falls off, they don't know if they've had the Rabies vaccination, puppy SHOT (emphasis on singular) was done, The dog lives in the backyard and the kids "play" with it sometimes, And this my friends is the BEST CASE Scenario for "typical pet owners" expect them to do more and your just wishing into the wind. I wish too but don't EXPECT it.

Near Halloween last year I was on the highway and saw a little border collie running frantically along the road. I knew that it would no doubt be hit by traffic and so I stopped. Another motorist also stopped and together we corralled the frightened animal and gently put her into an empty crate in my van. This little female was very well groomed and cared for and it all seemed very much amiss. I took her home and fed her, gave her water and she just settled right in as if she knew she was safe. She was a sweet and stable dog. She appeared to be around 7 or 8 years old. When we found the owners through the local shelter, they were very happy to get her back. She was in fact 13 years old and a loved family dog, but every year frightened by fireworks at Halloween. Absolutely no other nerve problems with the little girl. I was so happy that such a cherished family pet would not die on the highway after 13 years with a family and the children's companion. I hate fireworks!!!

I wish we could ban the liberal bleeding heart crowd from living in America! This does not give me the right to do so, just as just because you don't like fireworks scaring your sissy dogs doesn't give you the right to ban them from me. We do fireworks every year and it does not bother my dogs at all. My neighbor has labs and no problem for them, we do have another neighbor with an American Bred GSd who is scared of fireworks, but then the dog is scared of lawnmowers, weedeaters etc... I suspect we are hearing from people who have less than average nerved dogs.

I don't much care about fireworks, but I see no reason to ban anything. We have enough stupid laws that serve no purpose. I believe that we have the inherent right to live as we choose so long as we do not harm anyone. It seems that any time something goes wrong someone starts pointing fingers. Restrain your dogs if you do not wish for them to die in traffic or end up in trouble. If you want silence sequester yourself far from civilization (Alaska maybe).
