Your not doing anything wrong. The stools you describe are from the bones in the diet. They are hard like this and in a few days you can actually step on them and then will dissinigrate. This actually indicates your dog is digesting the raw meat /bones very well! WHen we give our dogs raw bones to eat the body is suppose to suck the calcium/phosphorus out of them and leave the rest which becomes a powder. THis forms together making the hard stool. Now, if your dog is having a hard time passing them at times, then I would add more pure meat and a bit less of the meat/bone msxture. And/or more of the veggie mixture. Adding pumpkin will help move things along BUT...it won't solve the reason for this happening.

Dry stools like you describe are normal for a dog on a raw diet getting a lot of bone. Like Winnie said, if the dog is having trouble passing them add a bit more meat and veggies and a bit less bone until you find the mix that works best for your dog. Dogs on a raw diet do not tend to drink as much as a dog on a kibble diet. They get a lot of water from the meat.

A harder stool is actually a good thing in some ways as well. Keeps the anul glands expressed and CLEAN!! The stools are doing what they are suppose to. However, you don't want it hard and painful for the dog to deficate, so adding more meat/less bone will really help.
