p59teitel,
At the BSZS in 2005, I thought Pakros was PHENOMENAL! Others did too, because he brought the house down, with applause(both hand and vocal) from the audience. Not to be argumentative, but I personally would not judge Pakros on that one performance, this year. Maybe his proficiency training was lackluster, maybe he was having a bad day, I don't know, but not only did he bite great, he was under TOTAL control during the 2005 BSZS. I was impressed with the dog during that show. I was lated getting to the show this year(left the states a day later than I planned and was on the autobahn, headed that way, when he performed at this year's show and I missed his performance, so I have no base to make a comparison between the two performances.

Stephen, for the most part I think Fred Lanting tries to rest his "conclusions" about certain dogs, if it's fair to call them that, on more than just that day's - or dog's - performance. He seems to attempt to incorporate past performances by the dog, the dog's sire's performance, etc. And as an SV judge, I'd guess that there's a lot he hears about the dogs leading up to the show that can't be incorporated into a short article.
I'm sure he has some biases like the rest of us. His 2003 comments suggest he wasn't all that impressed with Bax, so maybe there's some carryover from that in his outlook towards Pakros.
In the end, it really is just one guy's critique, although I do think his overall concerns about the number of top dogs who are seemingly waved through the courage test with undeserved "pronounced" ratings may have some merit.

I will have to agree with his overall concerns, ecpecially after 2005 BSZS VA9 Nando vom Gollerweiher went, "nicht genugend", at this year's show.

SGBH, there must be a missunderstanding. Nando was T1 in 2006 Sieger Show.

Kirsten,
Sorry, you are so right. I made that post off the top of my head and should have verified it against the SID info list. The high profile dog that I was actually referring to was Karat's Yoker that was T3.
