That is hilarious! Don't know what it's like in the UK but with enough Pike dogs I am going to assume people know black is a colo(u)r. Maybe being too opitmistic. Looking forward to the silly comments. Our Chiswickian Cloud Wolf (husky) is doing well to further information about his rare breed.

I had a hard time getting people to pet my dark sable 4 month puppy because they were too scared. They thought he was a Dingo...LOL. As an adult he looked like a dark wolf.

I've been told she is too tiny, and that she is HUGE. She has also been called a wolf many times. In fact once when we were walking around the lake, these teens were coming back to their cars from fishing and saw us. They were a distance away, but I heard one go "Wow look at that dog!" and then another say "That's not a dog, that's a freakin' WOLF!" And then the whole group starts howling trying to get her attention or whatever. She totally ignored them, as did I. We just kept walking.
I also remember a couple of enthusiastic little kids come running over asking if she was a police dog and if I was a police officer.
I found out that kids are smarter than adults, and that the general population is completely retarded when it comes to dogs. She's also been called a lab mix a lot, by those people who think every black dog out there has to have some kind of lab in it.

Atlantaworkingdogs that's funny. Thankfully my vet and his staff knew what he was (well, most did). He commented on how good looking he was.

About 5 yrs ago was at the WALMART parking lot with her and 4 of her pups and a lady called the Tyler PD and said I was selling wild Coyotes in the parking lot..
Hello....I also had a breeder from Forney there talking with me and a Immigration officer, her husband from NY, on site and a cocker spaniel breeder I was there helping sell her cockers not my gsd.
I had them there in a play pen for social reasons not to sell . I never ever sold one of my pups in a parking lot or on line..
I laughed when they showed up..She was across the lot yelling obsenities at us also..Funny but two Tyler pd have pups from me and they just broke out laughing...
Ignorance and plain rudeness has overtaken public when the COLOR IS NOT black and tan.
When I tell people I raise Black/red,,....they think oh you have Rottie in them???lol
Proud to be the owner of beautiful sables , a bi or two and yes a black girl also.
