I remember Prager advising NOT to line breed on Tom because of poor hip production from Klara. I don't know myself...I only remember it because I have a Tom grandson.

I know these dogs Duke is breeding because I have owned and trained these lines....this is very nice stuff. It would produce generally a very strong working type.....but I also like to diversify the genebase after I establish strength in what I want....so Duke could definitely give me a female for breeding out of this litter.....LOL

The male is already 2-3 on Tom z Pohranicni Straze
Female is an outcross.
Have you bred the male to unrelated line to see if he throws his type?
Puppies could be awesome or lack vitality. I think it would be one way or the other with little variation among puppies considering the close breeding.

Since you are doubling up on certain dogs very closely related I would be sure that your health certf's are in order on both sire & dam as you are probably not able to check the dogs in the pedigree that you are doubling up on. HD/ED is minimum; I am really talking about DM first and foremost; thyroid, cardio, eyes as you CAN strengthen some things and double/triple up on health problems which you do not want. JMO Nan

For newer people, Duke 1965 is a long time successful breeder over the years. He is also very famiar with the stock he is using....this is not some ill thought out breeding whatsoever. Of course with every breeding you don't know til they arrive, but as far as due diligence is concerned about the stock.....he is well aware of the pluses and minuses. Just thought I would add this.

i guess my question would be, "what next?" if you are doing an inbreeding such as this, you need to have the next step in mind somewhat before you do this breeding. you cannot continue inbreeding or linebreeding, so what blood would you hope to bring in with subsequent generations? i have no problem with inbreeding or close linebreeding so long as there is a plan in place and it is done with purpose --- such as to "set in" certain traits. no breeding (in my mind) can be thought of as an end result. you have to have a clear path ahead of you and some idea of how you will get there. :)

Like I said....I would take a puppy from this (female) and go to West working lines. I have already had a puppy out of a linebred Cordon female and bred to Sid vh Pixner.....the male was super!!! Currently patrol dog in NJ city.

that would be an excellent choice for producing "real" dogs with working ability and a pretty fair amount of natural aggression. :)

Exactly!!!and I owned this male until he was 18 months....he played with my grandchildren every Sunday when they came over.....no problem whatsoever. Strong but gentle, social but definitely a manstopper when finished the academy....my idea of the breed.
