Nope, most my females have had were 12 :D

My largest litter was 11 and that was about 5 too many. That was the last time I bred that bitch too. In 2 litters she produced 20 puppies and I felt she had done her service to me and the breed LOL.

I had a GSD deliver 14of which 12 lived (I bottle fed to help) She looked like a goat about to twin! Her name was Danja (V-SchH3, KKL1a), and her line is very fertile (she was from the 4th generation of my own breedings). Danja came from a litter of 10, Danja's mother was from a litter of 9. Danja's daughter Jetta had 4 litters over 4 years, totaling 46 puppies, with 44 living. Danja's daughter Jettawas also very fertile. Each of Jetta's litters were 10-12 puppies. (incindently, Jetta had an open pyometra at 14 months and they didn't know if it would make her sterile...it did not). Jetta's daugther Diedra averaged 10 puppies in a litter. (For bitches that have big litters, I breed them once a year, and for a maxium of 4 litters) Now I have 2 of Diedra's 3 year old daughters. They have each had one litter and they were normal numbers (7 puppies each). Naturally, you must time the breeding correctly, and the male must have good semen, but how many eggs the females releases has to do with both genetics AND if she is in good condition.
