My ASL GSD does that very well.
"Not everyone has it in them to pull a trigger."
I am sure I have it in me.

If you feel the threat is high, then you have to put your money in your pockets and pay out for a proper product.
How long do you think it will be for the puppy to develop effective into an effective protector, 2yrs, or 3yrs with some dogs. If you need a protection dog now can you wait, what if the dog doesn't turn out the way you want (weak) what if he's too much. What if the pup develop's an illness.
Where are you going to get your training.
If you're serious about protection then the dog is small part of the package, home alarms, proper locks, in the US you have firearms you can purchase.
What about family members and lifestyle; where's this dog going to be when Barbeque's on or the kids friends are all playing in the garden. It ain't Rin Tin Tin.
You probably need a well balanced family watch dog that's had some "light" bite work training, plenty of socialisation and obedience for control, and you have the support of a local Club where can go for regular training.

if u want a good protection dog go to eurosport talk to taunya and joseff and tell them what u want they are honest and will be up front about it and will test the dog for u very well before they send it out even if its just a year old they will have a good idea what the dog will be like when its fully mature a dog with very strong civil drive

How much protection do you need?
I have the sweetest bitch in the world, she's happy, and friendly to everyone and everything, her temperament is quite mellow, and is easy to live with. BUT let someone lift a hand against me and she goes crazy!
She's a beautiful showline and she's from Eurosport K9.

Today I had a LE dog trainer perform a house invasion scenario with a hidden sleeve. First my 20 month old male was out free when he entered. (he performs well on the field and has great bite work). He barked and got excited but wouldnt bite the intruder. Then my 13 month old female had her turn. Without hesitation she charged as soon as she heard the door open bite the shit out of him. (she does not like working on the field) Go figure.
