I agree with EchoMeadows. This pup sounds way too young to have osteodystrophy and it doesn't typically affect the jaw. Anything is possible I suppose.

Fleet, jsut keep checking back. Some might email you privately. If you have access to another vet, this might be good time to call him or her.

Hi! Well it seems more likely to me also to be septisema or however it may be spelt. But the good news is that I tried some herbal stuff called Noni juice and within two hours some of the swelling had come down. Noticeably most was the jaw. I kept that up all night every few hours and this morning she is trying to eat on her own and is much more lively. Who knows maybe the meds finally had enough time to work? Just seems that nothing was getting better only worse and then within the two hours from the first try improvement. Leg still swollen but not as much as before. Still can not walk well. Especially hind end. Very weak. Maybe the leg was hurt but could see no cuts which leave entry via the cord but it is very late for that problem I would have thought. I have seen it in two week olds but never this age. But anything is possible. I think she is improving at this point and will see how it goes. Thankyou to all for thoughts. janice

Hi Fleet,
Glad pup has improved, how these dogs love to worry us! To answer your question, don't know anyone else, but I just log on to the site anytime I am checking my emails so that I can see what's going on in the GSD community. Sometimes I visit the site daily, and other times over a week can go by.
Blitzen, thanks for asking about the pup, or Willow should I say! She has been ok, but yesterday had bouts of head nodding & loss off balance throughout the day so we have started her on phenobarbital. It doesn't seem to have affected her energy yet, but it does seem to have reduced the worrying symptoms quite a bit. Thanks for asking after her

Pup is still doing better. Seems to be a bit uncordinated in the rear but leg is still swollen a bit. Much better. Janice
