Just noticed this post. Shelly Strohl, what are you talking about, that Caro will not get many breedings? This young dog just won the BSP and a cup of coffee away from winning the WUSV championship, this young dog is the top competition dog in the world, at just two and a half years old. I think what you are saying is silly. So, you're saying that the BSP champions, Xando Karthago, Okar von Karthago, or dogs such as Othello vom Karthago, Fax vom Haus, Bernhart-Mader didn't get many breedings either? You know these dogs had NZ for hips. These dogs are in many, many top working dogs' pedigrees. So I would think that Caro will get his share of breedings in Europe, and on top of that, his owner and handler, has won the BSP more times than any handler in the world. I will be the first to import a Caro pup.

i saw FRITZ in 1975 at og wisconsin.....paul hombachs place..with the two bundeseigers "ENNO" and "DRIGON" FRITZ is a remarkaable trainer...congratulations..

reviewing the bsp records i must have seen FRITZ and the two bundeseigers ENNO and his son DRIGON in 76 0r 77...outstanding dogs..i recall an exhibition ..both dogs did a courage test on the helper..who had two sleeves on ..both hit their respective sleeves simultaneously... i believe the helper was mike trotsky...memories...

That's what I thought...so I doubt that his elbow rating will hurt his breeding card very much. After all, the entire concept of even *having* elbow ratings is a fairly recent one in Europe, if I'm not mistaken.

Hi dogford4. May I give some numbers in order to broaden your perspective on 'getting breedings': Xando Karthago HD-3 noch zugelassen zw 121 had 331 pups in 70 litters, 139 pups (41,99%) were later x-rayed. Results = 50HD1 (35,97%), 42HD2 (30,21%), 25HD-3 (17,98%), 15HD-4 (10,79%), 3HD-5 (2,15%), 4HD-6 (2,87%). Okar von Karthago HD-3 noch zugelassen zw 114 had 198 pups in 40 litters, 90 pups (45,45%) were later x-rayed. Results = 37HD1 (41,11%), 28HD2 (31,11%), 13HD-3 (14,44%), 8HD-4 (8,88%), 4HD-6 (4,44%). Othello vom Karthago HD-3 noch zugelassen zw 109 had 92 pups in 21 litters, 47 pups (51,08%) were x-rayed. For your comparison: (some other Siegers’ and worldchampions’ offspring) Ursus von Batu had 1384 pups in 353 litters Yasko vom Farbenspiel had 1060 pups in 268 litters Eros von der Mohnwiese (WUSV 2004/2005) had 39 pups in 8 litters (by the way: 100 % a1 in SV-Genetics??, talking about the need to give the correct info DH! and doing the necessary research to put the SV-numbers into the right perspective) Tom van ‘t Leefdaalhof (WUSV 99) had 258 pups in 78 litters Ellex vom Salztalblick (BSP 2005) had 21 pups in 4 litters Falco vom Güldenen Winkel (BSP 2004) had 11 pups in 2 litters Attaque von der Adelegg (BSP 2003) 61 had pups in 11 litters Anosch vom Adelmannsfelder Land (BSP 2002) had 85 pups in 14 litters (Source: SV-Genetics 01/2006) Hope this helps to put some things into perspective. (Don't kill me if you encounter a slight error in the numbers, it's early sundaymorning).

You are most welcome dogford4. If you are interested, I have just added a comparison of hip dysplasia on my website, showing the development of HD from 1986 until 2003. Visit the world wide web .bloggen.be/hd DO visit again later, I am working on a chart documenting the GSD TOP-25 breeders; and a study on VA-Champions will follow soon. Godspeed!
