Didn't want to volunteer you w/out asking you first, but I PM'd you w/people who contacted me regarding donating. 

ANIMAL CONTROL and the individual rescues are NOT the same as the general SPCA. Please check where you are sending money if you don't go through Jackie directly. 

 I just hope to God that she doesn't find a way to get more by making deals w/other scum to send her their females for breeding w/her frozen semen. That is how she got a lot of these. Pretty sick that the promise of an opportunity to own a dead/diminishing bloodline is enough for people to send their dog off to a KNOWN abuser! 

I'm personally afraid that the dogs aren't in bad enough shape for her to get mroe than a slap on the wrist, again, unless they really do step up to the plate and throw the book at her this time b/c of her mother. The pics I saw wern't too horrible as far as skinny, etc., and I hope that doesn't act in her favor or the favor of any owners who were aware of Janice's treatment of dogs and sent their dogs anyway. I'm sure, given time, they would've ended up just as bad as the 64 she had taken away last time!

 You have already pointed out to me Jenn that I don't understand so I guess I will just prove your point. LOL  Why would anyone ship a dog for a frozen semen breeding and not just buy the semen and do the breeding?

I don't know the breeders that sent her dogs and I don't know the dogs bloodlines.  You seem to have a little more knowledge of that then most of us.  But if the bloodlines were so desirable I have to assume that the breeders knew what they were doing and were in fact established breeders.

I said if before and I'll say it again, it you want to take a risk giving someone a second chance YOU (generic) take the chance, not your animals who you are suppose to protect.

Since their reproductive organs and the rare bloodlines put them in such danger it is probably best that they are spayed/nuetered.  Much better chance of them finding a forever home where they can be loved and cherished just for being them.

There is no point in debating wacko AR groups, AC, SPCAs or rescues on this thread. Start another one if you want to get into that and I'll be sure to contrbute my personal knowledge and experience or lack thereof on that thread.

As far as those particular dogs bloodlines go. What is the real harm or shame in these dogs being spayed/neutered before being placed as they should be? NONE. Every single one of those dogs has a very close relative as in littermate/sire/dam/half sibling or progeny out there already. No great loss to the gene pool if these few particular dogs are never bred again. Not every dog is breedworthy no matter what lines it may come from. Anyone really think Janice Bartemess is paying to keep frozen semen stored somewhere for the last 20 years? Not I unless it's in her own freezer.

All this outcry over losing rare valuable bloodlines is a crock of crap. No one screamed this loud over bloodlines when she had 64 dogs of the same lines seized. Imagine the health and temperament of a 2 year old dog that's lived it's entire life locked in a tiny crate living in it's own waste and never being exposed to anything but that or a chain in a house. No papers. You can bet they're not registered to Janice who should have been banned for life from the AKC years ago. You can't register dogs that were obtained from a rescue or a shelter. Sure, breed those dogs cause they themselves have such valuable bloodines. No one is even going to bother sorting through the garbage in that house to find papers on these dogs and determine anything. As far as the courts are concerned, Janice is the owner. Anyone who sent her a dog will have to contact the authorities in LA , prove they own the dog and get the dog back themselves. IMO, anyone who knowingly sent that scumbag a dog shouldn't get it back.

And if they decide NOT to prosecute Janice for animal cruelty/neglect charges, she may very well get one or all of the dogs back. As bad as that is, it could very well happen if the dogs condition is not so horrible to warrant the court ordering them to be turned over to the SPCA or AC. Until their fate is determined, let folks donate to whatever official agency has got them. That's who needs the money now and Jackie knows who they are. The mother is the real case here. The dogs and Janice's prior conviction may help that along and make a "slap on the wrist" a lot harder for her to get.

 Because, she doesn't sell it publicly, typically. She makes deals for breedings, deals for puppies, deals for her "non-profit" breeding program and unbelievably, there are people who actually believe her and can't see her for what she is! Even if she "sells" someone frozen semen, she wants pups back, females. Also, some of her semen won't make the grade for AKC reg. due to how she collected it, and the people who don't care about that will give her whatever she wants to get their hands on whatever bloodlines. Von Forell, Alt Ostland, Arizona Black, and others have worked w/her on breedings of this and slightly varying natures. 

She told me about her dream of this program a year or so ago. When I heard she was arrested, I was worried about the people she may have duped into being involved w/her and was afraid she may have someone's dog that should be retuned. Disappointingly, over the past 48 hours, I haven't been able to find one person that I could see beyond a shadow of reasonable doubt that deserved their dogs and/or resulting pups back. It's devastating that she found so many cohorts to turn a blind eye to what she's doing because of what she has to offer them if they stay on her good side....as I did NOT, lol. Gee, what a pity we couldn't be friends. <gag>

Don't forget you guys, I'm a "bloodline hoarder" because I wouldn't partake in either taking her bitches to breed or sending Caleb's semen to her. LOL. Sadly, there are people who fell for her story and/or didn't care enough to check her out before agreeing. And, as usual....who pays the price? The dogs, of course.

 I was answering Betty, not mobjack. Mobjack, I don't even know what you're talking about. Is there something I'm missing where peole are trying to buy/take the dogs for breeding? Totally lost on where that's coming from, as I've heard nothing of the sort. If anything, the people who would want it are pretending they weren't involved w/Janice. 

Yes, whackjob does store semen. She sent me all kinds of into on where she stores hers and where to go to do it, who to talk to, and you can be she even has shady deals going on w/that. 

If it wasn't against TOS, I'd post all my emails from her so this would all be clear and easy for everyone to understand just how many people she is involved w/on on level or another and just how many people don't care who she is...all in the name of what she can offer them.

That is what happens when I type too quickly on an Android phone.  I meant to type "Bartmess" and couldn't make the correction before the phone sent it "out to the ether."  I am just glad that you all realized  (apparenlty) what I meant to type.  

I have been informed that Best Friends Rescue in LA is going to take care of the dogs.  Is that correct?    Anyone have the contact info, for those who wish to send only for the specific dogs?

Mobjack:  You make an EXCELLENT point.  More than just this 13 needs help and some of them are in equally bad circumstances.  As long as I am not sending money to HSUS, I am happy to write a check. 

 Thanks, Mystere! I couldn't remember if it was HSUS for sure and didn't want to post it, but I didn't want pepole getting all enraged and sending money out w/hecking into who is who among groups.

Everyone, keep your fingers crossed that they are salvageable.

 Perhaps you can post some of the information on DDR Legends Jenni?  Steve and crew  certainly had no problem  went they were on their self described mission to destroy the one breeder/puppy miller and anyone they thought were even friends with her.

Just a thought, since you are admin there and expressed the wish to get out the info on some of the people that would do business with someone that the simplist google search should of had them running from.

Since my point really isn't obvious,and I thought about that myself, I'll make it clear. ;-)

When Michael Vick was arrested and his abuses came to light, people came crawling out of the woodwork for various reasons. Not all were bad people or had wrong intentions. Many people though wanted only a bit of spotlight or the notoriety they could get from having a "Michael Vick" dog or somehow being involved with that case. People wanted dogs for breeding, ego, whatever. I do not want to see that happen in even a minuscule fashion here. I care about the dogs not the bloodlines, I don't give a damn if it was a Heinz 57 mutt.

The GSD world is a small one, the group of truly good, caring people that are actually trying to preserve those lines is even smaller. Alt-Ostland Judy Malone and ilk are known for their shady trashy dealings. Sideways deals are how they operate, yes. That bunch possibly would try getting their hands on these dogs through a con or some smooth talking so they can breed them. You really think there's no scheming and thinking going on? The dogs would be no better off with them then they were with Bartemess. Some jerk that just wants to make a 15 minute name for himself in the GSD world and get some ego stroking back patting for having a "Bartemess dog" or some "rare DDR bloodlines" doesn't need to get his hands on one either. There's too many of those out there already. So yes, spay and neuter the dogs and let legitimate rescue or the SPCA put them up for adoption in good homes as pets.
